I put the text in my pictures on photobucket. It can be inserted in the "edit" function. It is actually quite a pain really, but it is nice to have labels. I actually have a few more to do, but I got tired out!

Thanks for the comment! I do think it's a pretty neat knife myself. I would love to find out more about who did the repair. It was not an easy job, I don't believe?

I am not that computer literate

I sent you an e-mail with a executable file. It's clean. It's a photo editing program. Easy to use and put text in a pic.

What would I do without you Willie??

For a photo handling program I have used irfanview for around eight years to do all my picture handling. Once you get the hang of it, it is easier for me to use than either Windows Photo Gallery or Paint. It can be used to insert text in a picture and it offers a wide variety of both type styles and colors for the insert. What I really like to use it for is to lighten a dark picture copied from an ebay listing to be better able to see the fine points of the knife in question. I have found a number of blade etched knives this way that the seller failed to either show or mention. It's a totally FREE download available at this link:

The bartender's knives are cool... I don't have one.

Thought I would put this picture on tonight. The Joseph Rodgers knife has such beautiful pearl. Handles are desirable shape, but someone must have thought it was a prying tool instead of a knife.

The Case knife is actually pretty good. The main blade has a weak spring. There are tiny chips at the edge of the pearl also, but not bad. The tang reads just "Case XX Stainless."

Great mop knives everyone. I especially like the champagne pattern and the shape of the Jos Rodgers

This one with groovy scales was made in Germany (despite the name) circa 1905.

Knifegirls Jos. Rodgers was never even sharpened. Looks like it was never carried, but used at least 3 times, once to chip along the main blade, once to break the main blade, and once to break a secondary blade.
Maybe the guy that had it kept it in his sock drawer, and after he died the old woman used it to open her cat food cans......

This one must have been lost at one time and the elements took their toll , otherwise I would have never been able to afford it 15 years or so ago when I purchased it . You can barely make out the tang stamp (W.R. CASE & SONS) and the back handle is inscribed "San Antonio" .

Here is one more, let's keep pearl at the top as long as the pearls will last. Electric Newark NJ 2 1/2 in.

Thanks Dimitri for the complement. It took several months to buy that knife. Less than a month later I got to look at a hand full and found this. Found out later the quill jack came from the same place as the second. Slightly different tang stamp reads Excelsior (arched) over knife co. Someone told me that Northfield used the Excelsior mark. I took that with a grain of salt because he was also trying to buy my knives. I would love to have more information on Excelsior. All I have is 1880-1884 With assets purchased by Northfield. edit 3 inches long edited to correct my brain cramp

In 1884 the machinery and assets of the Excelsior knife company were purchased and relocated to the Northfield Knife company.

Napanoch had nothing to do with Excelsior
