Picked up this fixed blade yesterday, looks almost unused, really top notch bone. Anyone have any idea of a date range for this knife.

Pruner for the lady, and a beautiful bone handled fixed bld. for you. I thought at first they might both (as HSB used NYK)have been NYK,but that bone on this one doesn't seem NYK to me.

Nice recent pickups John.

Except for the scales I think that fixed blade was likely what my knife looked like before someone got a bit overzealous with a grinder ::dang:: Anyway here is another off-type HSB I picked up awhile back: a carver with the Rev-O-Noc stamp.

Just FYI for those that have an interest in HSB/OVB; there is a nice looking 1923 company catalog on Ebay right now.

Priced at $125.00, so it's not cheap.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hibbard-Spencer ... SwwpdW-qMP

I bought one of these years ago in an antiques store in Saint Augustine for $110 and sold it for $150 at the next knife show I attended.

That one had a beautiful color section of pocketknives that looked to be all New York Knife products.

Found this 2-3/4" MOP 2 blade yesterday at a flea market... Tang is marked Hibbard, Spencer & Bartlett Co on one side and OVB on the other. No idea what the age is...

An old HS&B Moose. Bought this one back in the early 1990s at a Long Island antique show. The old man who sold it, told me he worked for Ulster. He had two knives, this and an Ulster TL-29. Both of them were in unused condition.....I bought them both. Barry

John, Your knife looks like one I have made by Camillus. This one is 7 1/2" overall with a 3 7/8" blade. The stamp on my knife was used up to and during WWII. I'm guessing the date range is likely 1930s - 1940s. Barry

Fantastic knife! Do you think that is an Ulster?

Yes, I think the moose is an Ulster made knife. Here is a scan of 2 knives together, the top one stamped Ulster alongside the HS&B. I believe with some pocket time the Hibbard handle will look similar to the Ulster. Of course the moose will never see pocket time as long as I own it. Barry

Love seeing your knives Barry. I should have bought that Wilbert farmers whittler. I always regret not getting any of that kind ( my kind ),even if I give myself good reasons not to at the time.

Here's another HSB. This one is a 4 blade Senator, 3-5/16" closed length... #2645. Nice bone.

Here's a couple OVB's I've ported elsewhere.

Here is a lobster pattern HSB & Co folder. Tip bolsters are notorious for producing blades when fully extended that have lateral wobble. This one has blades when fully deployed that are absolutely solid with not a hint of lateral movement. The two blades are tang marked. The primary OVB and the small pen hibbard/spencer/bartlett/ & co. The primary mark side blade flat is etched OVB. The folder is 3 inches closed. The blades have been sharpened but are still full. They also have much of their original finish. The liners are coined both on top and bottom where the slim nail file/cuticle tip is enclosed. Lloyd

Lloyd,
The condition of that lobster is fantastic! Thanks for showing it! Bone on a lobster is not what I'm used to seeing. I usually see pearl but I really like how this one looks.
