I bought two and they both had little issues like that. Both packages had been opened and that's probably what let 'em spot.

I would take it out of the plastic bag, it is probably trapping the moisture and causing the spots of rust

If I recall it is somewhere around 4" long closed.

Here is one I hadn't seen yet. Gebr. Berns means the Brothers Berns. I scanned a latter day KABAR in white Delrin with an excellent etch and faux scrim but the contrast was too weird. I will have to work on it. This Gebruder Berns with the otter etch is re-created in a modern knife in a smaller size at a reasonable price from a jobber back east. I forget exactly where I bought one of those; I suppose I should have scanned that one as well, but modern knives don't really have the je ne sais quois expected here anyoldhow.

I posted one similar on the previous page, although it is of cheaper construction.

The shield is very similar.

Anybody finding any rope knives?

I got real lucky a while back and found this one on an online auction with real bad pictures.

It is an early, 1860`s or so rope knife, stag handles and square joint construction, also note the extended kick, rather unusual to find one this small. It still has strong snap and the blade is razor sharp!

These are currently available on eBay.
