That sounds like a little slice of heaven... The front of my property/lot is very narrow and set on a small hill surround by dessert. My front yard is a bout 7 yards from the road to my porch and I only have a small space in front of my house to park. I have a couple of trailers I can't fit on my property and I can't turn them around there either. I live on a dirt, one lane dead end road with no turn around, so I have to drive onto another person's property to turn around. ... So having some land and some space sounds like heaven to me! Ahhh a nice big work shop ... that is a dream of mine.... ..... And I bet them steers make better pets then my 'Ol dog Zeus.... ... He's always getting into trouble

My buddy and his wife bought the ranch a couple of years ago as a weekend retreat. 530 acres or so, with a 4,000 sq ft building on it. Half - around 2,000 sq ft is the barn, and the other half is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath house with kitchen and living room (they call them a "Barndominium" around here). Lots of deer, hogs, turkey, etc to hunt, as well as 4 or 5 tanks to fish. He is also growing his cattle herd, as unmarked cattle keep showing up on his property over the last several years. He has asked all his neighbors, but they say they aren't theirs. I think he now has 15 or 20 black angus. His wife made him buy a bunch of feeders and is making him feed them. Sounds like a dream come true to me.

It was about as good as it gets... After we got to the end of the trail, I walked about 10 yards from the car and Bam! One flew right in front of me and I got him with the first shot of the day and after that they just kept on 'a coming...

Always have a hard time tossing stuff. Repurposed a couple the broken butt plates into key chain fobs.

I used to have one just like that D.L. ... But it ain't no good to me anymore ... I can't see the sights at all and I CAN BARLY SEE THE GUN ....

Thanks D.L. ... the only read dots I am seeing is after I drink too much bourbon at night and wake up in the morning ... but in that case I'm also seeing wavy red lines as well .... Let's just say my shooting skills have depreciated over the past years ... quite noticeably ....

I read in a book about the Texas war for independence that the cannon previously given to the Texas town of Gonzales for defense against Indian attacks, may not have even been in working order. So good on them 'Ol Texans for standing on principal, broken cannon or not!

...I also have a personal connection to that flag ... I'll look for some old pictures and see if I can illustrate what I am talking about....

Savage MarkII. A project I did about 10 years ago. Hydro dipped with barrel deresonator( makes a noticable difference in accuracy once ya find the sweet spot). it shoots pretty good right outta the box. As with my CZ, it shoots CCI Standard velocity the best. I rim gage and weigh each round then segregate them into respective lots for grouping. cant find my 100 yd targets? but they are pretty good These targets are @ 50 yds, at 30 yds it really shines. bird knifes are of course Queen made.

Nice set up and shooting. Back when I shot Bullseye I performed the CCI standard velocity or the Federal 711b also standard velocity.

Had the darndest thing happen Friday. My brother from out of state was visiting for a few days, so we headed out to the local gunclub to shoot a few. We shot some 100 yard rifle and then went over to the pistol range. I was shooting my S & W 638 Airweight, 38 Special with a handload I make with 125 grain Berrys plated flat nose bullets and a small dose of 700X powder. I touched one off at some rubber hanging gongs that our club just recently installed from about 10 yards and all of a sudden I feel something hit me in the chest just to the left of the right hand pocket of the short sleeve shirt I was wearing. It was not painful, but sure did startle me. I looked down and right between my shoes lay the bullet I had just fired, which I have shown in the picture (note rifling marks). I think what happened was I fired at the rubber gong which was hanging by a screw into a horizontal wood piece of the target frame, and my aim was a little high and the bullet hit the rubber where it was attached to the frame and that absorbed most of the energy, but spit the bullet right back at me. I was standing there with a 2 hand grip, the bullet returned back and went right under my hands and the grips of the 638 and hit me. Like I said, it was not painful, kind of like someone threw a bullet at you by hand. Really weird!!!!

Wow! That's a blessing in disguise, its path could have been higher and hit your face.
This reminds me of an incident about 55 years ago. My buddy had acquired a new Remington 5mm rimfire rifle. We had a piece of aluminum flat stock, probably 2"X3/8" maybe 2 feet long that we drove in the ground. Dumb, I know, but we shot at it with the 5mm. It passed through with no problem. He kept bragging about how this new round would replace the 22 magnum that some folks we knew used in some illegal deer harvests. WelI I got a wild hair and said my 22 LR could do that, too. At that time I had a little Browning semi auto in the gun rack in the truck. So, bang and I felt a sting on my neck! The meager 22 LR bullet hubbed up in the aluminum and sent a small ring of lead right back at me!
Back then we were invincible and stupid.
Oh yeah, the 5mm craze didn't last too long, it was deadly but reminds me of the now halfway popular .17HMR. Fun, but it's hard to improve on the .22 we all grew up with.

I thought about the possibility of a higher hit in the eye, hopefully the polycarbonate lenses would have stopped the slug.
