Thanks Harold, thanks Bill. I found the yard sale add with a knife collection on kijiji and figured it would be a kid with mall ninja junk. i was surprised when i showed up and it was an older gentleman with these on display. he also had a bunch of vintage fishing lures and silver dollars (real silver) but they were mostly gone by the time I was done with the knives. abrowe - That stag 6265 looks pretty nice not bad for a yard sale find.
Picked this Western 742 up today. Not bad for a barn find on a Monday. Blades don't look used at all. Just had to clean her up a bit.

The phone camera is about useless. The CSA Stockman is green bone as far as I know.
Definitely green but maybe not bone. If it is bone it needs to soak in mineral oil for a while.

I've seen the CSA shielded Case in grey bone.
Are you sure that is green ?? Might need a serious cleaning .....

My favorite pattern (32) ... in buffalo horn. Was pretty beat up (somebody literally was pounding nails on the ends of the bolsters - mention of which was curiously neglected in the auction/pics, and looked like stirring green paint with it). After a couple hours of working through the sandpaper grits to get all the dings out of the ends and sides of the bolsters, wire brushing out the paint, sharpening on the lansky, digging out gobs of excess epoxy with an exacto knife where the shield was re-glued and time on the buffing wheel ... I am always dumbfounded how some people mistreat a fine knife
) ... came out darn decent. Snap on all 3 blades is really good, which is a rarity. It ranks in my top 3 best deals ever as well, which makes restoring it even sweeter ...
