What a beauty of a knife! The pins, to me anyway, are consistent with construction of that era. They were typically roughly pinned, with no pin spinning, and not a lot of finish buff work.

Look what followed me home. A Queen Barlow, bone handles, 1/2 stops, unsharpened pen blade, needs a good sprucing up. I believe the sideways "Q" indicates 1952-55.

Those old bone handle barlow's in that condition are getting really hard to find Phillip. That's a great snag!

That's a pattern 22. The 22 had a clip main blade. The pattern 23 had a spear main blade.

Hit the mother (of faux pearl and abalone) lode today. Someone’s collection was dumped out onto a table and I paid to make it mine.

Hit a garage sale on my way home today and struck gold. Among the finds were a G-96 Angler filet knife(didn't have one and had my pick of a half dozen different ones);a Cutco hunting knife with serrated blade unused;a combination tool called the Angler's Pal and my big score: A WWII era KA-BAR in the original sheath unsharpened and still partially covered in dried cosmolene!
Total: $20 for all four!

UPDATE! As I was going to put the knife back in it's sheath I noticed a very faint name inked onto the sheath. Rubbed a little more mineral oil on it and dried it and the name J.P.Jones became visible. Haven't found a service # yet but I'll be looking for it. The plot thickens.

That was a good day K7K, you got some good ones there.

To continue the Kabar connection I found this at a local gun show yesterday. Has a chipped handle and the sheath is a little worn with the strap missing but even with those warts I couldn't leave with out it. I think its a pre war knife. The 664-5 is the Model number I believe.The handles were the big attraction with a killer blade grind, similar to the grind used with the military knives. Very well balanced in the hand.

A beautiful knife to be sure! I wouldn't have passed that one by either. I have seen that handle style somewhere but can't remember where. Maybe on an early Case knife. I'll have to do some research. Easy repair on the sheath.

Thanks guys! Another member here, Gunsil, has shared that Case has had a similar handle/pommel design on some bone handled Bowie type fixed blades, early on. The bone color and jigging just pulled me in.

I found these at a yard sale on Saturday, which is rare around here. I accidentally posted this in the how to post pictures thread.
