All About Pocket Knives

Home from the knife show. The guy I regularly buy most of my knives from was at a gun show so I gave my money to another guy for a Remington half whittler or sleeve board double end jack or big pen knife (take your pick and maybe make up some others) and a really nice Enderes cattle knife with great dark jigged bone handles. The ebony is a German Corless (circa 1900) jack with full blades and half stops on both blades. I got that one at a Military show for $6 on the way home. I may carry that one for a while.___Dave

A Swiss Jackpot Day

I scored 2 nearly mint Victorinox Champion knives.

1 is pre-1973 & the other is from about 1981. Even the sheath is like new.

I also managed to get 5-6 of the best knives from this display case . 2 of the pocket watches & the display case itself.
One of my best day's on the local auction circuit.

I spent the last 6 weeks in Eugene. Hit some yard sales, and made the show- Amazing. One of the high points of the show was chatting with ORVET for a while. Brought this pile back to Montana, pretty tickled about most of it, some interesting stuff. Thanks

I think I would be pleased with the whole pile. Really like that pallet marking knife (?) if that is the correct name.

Are you talking about the "Timber Scribe"? Top middle. I guess you could call that a pallet marking knife. I think they're also used for that.

Berryb, that is a nice pile! I especially like the looks of the bone handled jack on the right side of your picture. Who made that one?

Treefarmer: That bone handled one is a Cattaraugus. It's sittin' on top of my "look at every day" pile. It's clean and snaps like a trap. That won't last long if I don't quit playin' with it.
Dogglegg: Yeah that knife is called a timber scribe, but I think what you called it is more descriptive of what it was actually used for. Pallets, packing crates etc. Timber scribe makes it sound like it was used out in the woods.

Knice haul Bruce!!

Picked these up yesterday. Giesen and Forstoff along with an old Holley.

Nice finds BWT. I especially like the whittler, seems I am always attracted to a sleeveboard with a bar shield.

Went to the Wolverine Knife Collector's Club show today. Lots of really beautiful knives there but very limited funds;more of a window shopping trip.Talked with a couple old friends and found out some information on a custom knife maker that made a knife I acquired some time back.
Found out he stopped making knives about 15 years ago but is still alive. Going to get in touch with him to find out about when he made my knife. Also saw a huge display model canoe that he had done a long time ago.Wish I had my camera with me to capture a picture of it.
Anyway I only found two knives;one of which I bought for my wife because she likes the color pink. Nothing expensive just a small Rough Rider congress pattern with fancy bolsters and bright pink bone handles.
The other knife was one I had heard of but never seen before. A scout utility pattern with faux pearl handles engraved with the name,"Esther Palmer". Kind of unusual for a woman's name to be on a utility knife. The stamp was,"American Knife Co. Winsted Ct." A little rusty but it cleaned up easily and nicely and was only $15.
Attendance seemed to be down a bit from the last time and from what I gathered there were a lot of lookers but not a whole lot of buyers.
One other item: Be on the lookout for an upcoming knifemaker by the name of Aaron R. Noppert.I talked for awhile with this young man who had a table full of knives he had made including two very nice stag handled folders. He told me has made about 40 knives so far and been making them for about three years now.
So what is so special about Aaron? Maybe the fact that he is only SIXTEEN years old! This kid is GOOD!!!!!!

HUILE MOEBIUS SWISS MADE OIL. FABRICATION SUISSE made in SWITZERLAND. MOEBIUS oil for fine FRENCH CLOCKS. That's what is modeled on 3 sides of the verry little bottle. long nail nick on main blade. made a big difference. any idea on the age? Thanks, Bob

Traded a $5 Lincoln Portrait for this old 72 today.

Picked up this Turner and Jepson today,excellent snap and half stops. I was wondering about the pins, didn't exactly look right to me the way they are cut off? Maybe someone did some repairs, but I had to have it because of the old stag handles!!!
