That is a really good price on that model Bond Derringer
I passed on a used one for 200 $ a couple months ago . The truth about the gun is they are flat out thumb breakers .I had I friend that bought one and the recoil cause him a close to broken nose . They have a low resale value in my neck of the woods for those reasons .I have shot the .45 /410. and it’s not what I would call made for recreational type shooting .

I considered a Bond Arms Derringer myself. I wanted the Texas Defefender but I changed my mind after watching a video of a guy standing about 3 feet from two 20 ounce bottles of water and he couldn’t hit either one of them.
He was obviously a bad shot but I’m not exactly a professional marksman myself. Those Derringers appear to be “get off of me” type guns and not well suited for any range beyond about 5 yards.
I bought a .38 Special revolver instead and I have no regrets.

What I call a true Long Tom “original “ has only the long Tom marking with no brand name or model # . Made buy Cresent Tool company (1908-1916 ) .offered in 12 and 16 gauge .the price back then was 5.70 for the 36 inch barrel length and 6.20 for the 40 inch . I would like to have one on display on the wall but they are hard to come by being they have been passed down from generations as family hair looms and seldom offered up for sale .

The Derringer was the original Belly Gun, when the poker game went sideways you put the muzzle in the cheater’s belly and pulled the trigger. At least that’s the story behind them. The are not for the casual gun owner/shooter.
From what I’ve heard from Derringer fans is that the original Derringer brand are much better and not the thumb wackers like the Bond brand. But they are about twice expensive.
My husband had one of them and could shoot it OK but he never met a gun he couldn’t.
If you’re jonsing for a smallish 410/45LC check out the Taurus Public Defender. It is the short barrel Judge. I’ve sold quite a few of them and the feedback has been positive.

Thanks. I have fallen for Black powder in a big way. Kinda think those cartridge guns are just a fad. Heck just look at how hard it is to get ammo for em. That’s gotta be proof. lol.

I'd love to get into black powder, but NJ laws are a real hassle. Besides, even trying to find time to get to the range is a bit of a hassle. If I do get the time and money to line up, I'll get the Uberti 1851 replica.

That would be a great one to own and shoot. I probably don’t appreciate enough living in a free state without unreasonable and unnecessary laws. I like my BP revolvers but tend to shoot my single shots more. They are faster and easier to clean.

A major outdoor retailer and gun shop in southern Maine has announced its decision to cease firearm sales in the state due to a new law mandating a 72-hour waiting period for gun transactions starting this summer.
Kittery Trading Post revealed that it intends to relocate its firearms operations to New Hampshire, where it presently operates a modest gun exchange facility. The Maine store is situated approximately 2 miles away from the New Hampshire border.
This move by the store comes in the wake of Governor Janet Mills’ recent declaration that she will permit the legislation to pass into law without endorsing it.

If I were KTP I would move the whole operation to New Hampshire
Mills also asked crapellas to stop selling AR and AK's
L.L.Bean won't sell pistols or ammo for same.
For years now I only support local gun shops
Oh ya wallmarts and dicks sporting goods in Maine won't sell pistol ammo either
This is the new Maine!! We are being run over by mASSholes that have migrated here..No wonder Smith & Wesson moved away from mASS...
They have turned our state into the state they tucked there tails between there legs and ran from

The new powder has a short shelf life . I think the last I bought lost its fizz the 2nd year .still got about 3 pounds I bout back in 1990 that loads and fires just fine .

I have old powder, just like you say, from the 1990s and as you say it loads fine. I had no idea there might be a problem with the newer produced powders.....
