All About Pocket Knives

Nice TF, I always try to pick up any unusual knife when I see one. I guess that is why I'm an accumulator instead of a collector!

Congratulations, that's a good lookin' knife!
Collinsville is where Miss Joy's oldest brother is buried. We heard about a miles long yard sale when we were there quite a few years back.

Drove two hours to the Collinsville Trade Day. Only second time I've been.
Wasn't sure of the turn out because of the rain. About half of the
vendor spots were empty. Not good ....

Walked for about 20 minutes. Bought the wife some socks.
Then the rain started again. Heavy mist at first, then big drops.
I hoofed it back to the car, quick.

Sitting in the car and pulled up the radar on the smart phone.
Decided I would wait out the rain. Maybe it won't be a wash out day.
Sat for nearly an hour, just me and the rain, watching the pedestrians run between the rivers.

Finally it passes. I get back out and slog through the mud and streams.
Find three different vendors with knives. One old feller had reasonable prices,
and a pleasant disposition. So I donated to his cause and brought home this jewel in the rough.

Poor attempt was made to sharpen the blades. Fortunately not much metal gone.
Good, solid snap all the way around. A decent find to make a Saturday worthwhile....

Collinsville Trade Day!
My great granddad used to sell junk there every Saturday. I was too young, then, to have the junk
bug (which somehow skipped generations and hit me later in life). I remember walking up and down the rows, up and down the hill with my grandad. He had a place on Weiss Lake. If the fishing was slow we would go to trade day.
Great memories. Thanks for spurring them.

My folks grew up In Ivalee at the foot of the mountain in 278. When I was about 10 years old I bought a “Rambo” knife at Mt Top.

Didn't buy knives at that age. I do remember buying a bootleg cassette of the Footloose soundtrack.

Found Spyderco at garage sale and Imperial in mailbox today!!

That Speydie appears to be in excellent condition. Very nice find.

I went to the Janesville show determined to buy one nice knife instead of a half dozen pretty good ones or a dozen average knives. That plan blew out of the water almost right away when I picked up the IXL pearl whittler for $35 and the mint "Western States" cracked ice and the Buck conversion for just under $100 each. The rest I got piece meal for a little more serious money but still awefully good prices. The green horn jack with the prop shield is a Holley. The bone jack with the Fed. shield is an Electric Cut. The Stag German single blade is a HUBA, and yes it's real stag. The HS&B slot knife came from an antique shop on the way home and was the most expensive at $240. So much for a game plan and a budget of $500. I go to one actual knife show each year so a little lee-way is expected. This really is a good show and the only large one in my area. ____Dave

"Knice" knives, Dave. Most of them are out of my league. Somebody used a term here on the forum recently that seems to describe my accumulator status, as "bottom feeder".

Holy Moly Dave.......those are beauties!!!

Found this at a large in-door flea market today. I think its a Case Model 92 pre war based on a fairly recent post from TripleF finding a similar knife. 8 1/2" OAl, chromed blade, stacked leather handle. In real nice shape, near mint to my eye. Happy to find this after looking at so much foreign junk.

I drive an old rusty truck, and an old car, and mow my lawn with a really old lawn mower, but I have a really nice pocket knife and a really good study Bible. I could have retired full time if I quit the pocket knife thing but I'm having just too much fun. ___Dave
