I'm pretty sure that the 1930 pocket knife was actually made prior to 1930.
In fact, 1928 is the only year NOT actually on a "W & H" pocket knife (so far).
The years that are actually on a "W & H" pocket knife are:
1923, 1924, 1925, 1926, 1927, 1929 & 1930.

Recently, my trip to the post office produced this advertising pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also became the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a "W & H", one blade, one tang stamp, 2 7/32" closed, all metal, fob or key ring, pattern or style of pocket knife. It has the curved or arched style of tang stamp, WITH the "USA" in the middle. The tang stamp says, "THE W & H CO (over) USA (over) NEWARK NJ" The main handle side says, "YOUR HOME BANK - HAZELWOOD SAVINGS & TRUST CO. - PITTSBURGH, PA." The other handle side says, "SILVER ANNIVERSARY - 1901-1926 - 25 YEARS OF SAFE BANKING" This is my first "W & H" fob or key ring, pattern or style of pocket knife, that advertises this particular company, event, organization, business, product, etc. The main blade does NOT have a half stop. The main blade does NOT have an opening snap. The main blade does NOT have a closing snap. This pocket knife is in FAIR condition. This pocket knife did not need any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off.

The other handle side says, "EX-LAX - A FRIEND IN NEED." It also has images or graphics of two tins or containers. This is my sixth W & H pocket knife that advertises this particular product. My other five EX-LAX pocket knives, have ALL been previously posted, under and throughout, this topic or thread. The main blade does have a GOOD half stop. The main blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The main blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade does have a GOOD half stop. The secondary blade does have a GOOD opening snap. Even with the broken blade and the broken blade/tool, this pocket knife is still in FAIR condition. This pocket knife will serve VERY NICELY as a filler, until I hopefully track down AND obtain another, intact one. This pocket knife did require a little bit of cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Doing just a simple, basic, Google search, produced a TON of information and a TON of items pertaining to the SAN FRANCISCO & PORTLAND STEAMSHIP COMPANY, along with the three ships, the "BEAR", the "BEAVER" & the "ROSE CITY."
The following is just a VERY, VERY SMALL, bit of information.
The following text is from a booklet issued by the Union Pacific System in 1915 titled "California and the Expositions":
"... the San Francisco & Portland Steamship Company (Union Pacific System) ... operates a fleet of three large, modern steel steamers, with every appointment for comfort, and wireless telegraph and submarine signal equipment for safety. They are appropriately named the "Bear," for California; the "Beaver," in honor of Oregon, and the "Rose City," for the city of Portland.
Sailing out from the Golden Gate, past Mount Tamalpais, and the Farallones, and Drake's Bay (where, in 1579, was held the first Christian service on the shores of the Pacific), the Coast Range unfolds an ever-changing panorama. The first stop is at Astoria, at the mouth of the Columbia River, and there is not a more charming water trip on the continent than the 100 mile voyage up the Columbia between this point and Portland. On a clear day, at the junction of the Willamette and Columbia, five snow-capped mountain peaks are clearly visible - St. Helens, Jefferson, Adams, Rainier-Tacoma and Hood. This company operates its fleet also as far south as Los Angeles (San Pedro)".

The "Rose City" (336 ft. long) was built in 1889. The Inter-Island Steamship Co bought her in 1920. The Los Angeles Steamship Co bought her in 1923 and renamed her "Waimea." From then she ran between San Francisco and San Diego via Los Angeles until 1931. She was eventually sold, and in 1933 she was scrapped. The "Bear" and the "Beaver" (4,507 grt, 380 ft. long) were built in 1910. The Bear was wrecked in 1916, while her sister was taken over by the U.S. Navy in 1918 and converted to a submarine tender. She served until 1946 and was scrapped four years later.

The secondary blade/tool front stamp (BLOCK STYLE) says, "PATENTED (over) MAY 18, 1909" The secondary blade/tool back stamp (BLOCK STYLE) says, "THE (over) W. & H. CO." The main handle side says, "BPOE" (the letters are interlocked). Along with some floral images, there are also two, ELKS CLUB symbols. On the left side, a clock with a star on top. On the right side, an elk's head. The other handle side says, "SOUVENIR - BLUEFIELD LODGE NO.269 B.P.O.ELKS, - REUNION ASSOCIATION OF WEST VIRGINIA, SEPT. 12-13-14. BLUEFIELD, W. VA." This is my second, "W & H" pocket knife, that advertises this particular organization, company, business, product, holiday, event, etc. However, both B.P.O.E. pocket knives are completely different. Besides the handles and the advertising, my other B.P.O.E. pocket knife is a whittler, pattern or style of pocket knife, with a "split spring" (I KNOW THAT IT’S NOT A TRUE SPLIT SPRING). It was posted under this topic or thread, back on October 6, 2023. This is my fourth, "W & H" stamped, multi-tool pocket knife, in THIS particular pattern or style, WITH the MAY 18, 1909 patent date. The main blade does have a GOOD half stop. The main blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The main blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade/tool does have a GOOD half stop.
