You mention fishing and literature......Nick Adams is the fly fishing, main character in Hemingway's " Big Two-Hearted River". It is set in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Then, there is Two Hearted Ale.......

Great pic, Joe. Nice set up as well. Years ago I would fly fish for bluegill on lake Guntersville with my grandpa. He had the rods and flies. The gear was basic, as that was his style. I caught this little Sunfish this afternoon on my early fiberglass Fenwick fly rod.
It was 5 1/2 feet long when I bought it at a yard sale in Spokane many years ago. Someone snapped off six inches of it and repaired it properly. Still a great little caster. Arnold Gingrich was a big proponent of the light rod.
I have the great Pflueger Medalist 1494 reel mounted for pure class.
I used a deer hair dry fly.

Thank you - I've gone through my books and will be re-reading the "In Our Time" collection today. "The End of Something" and "Indian Camp" are my favorites as I recall.
I've always thought that the fishing in "The Sun Also Rises" captures the peace of man in nature, and how we are better off in simplicity than partying in Paris or Pamplona.

Those are good reads, definitely tickle one's conscience.
This has evolved into something that belongs in the "what are you reading" thread. Someone needs to steer this back to the outdoors with a Bigfoot picture......or something.

Over Mother's day, a friend of mine was visiting his mom in Arkansas. In the afternoon his brother took time to make some repairs on their deer stand. After a couple of hours work they headed back to the house. On the way back, very close to where they had been working they spotted this. The dog with them never noticed. Beautiful!

This is what a neighbor of my son's saw over near Decatur, TX last night. Thank the Lord no one that they know suffered any damage.

Scary picture!
That same storm came through here about 2 AM, but by then it was more tame - wind, lightning and about an inch of rain here. The weather guessers say we’re likely to get several more rounds of storms through Memorial Day.Ken
