Just picked up this light weight commander sized 1911A1 in 9mm caliber. The aluminum frame makes it a pleasure to handle and carry.

Your .45 looks very good. In that caliber I have always preferred the balance of the Commander frame. Ken, who is the manufacturer of your pistol?

Beautiful buck and rifle sir.

My brother had a Steyr Mannlicher Model L in 243 and it was a lovely gun, I've always wanted a centrefire in fullstock myself.

Is a buck like that gettable on public with a bit of work or are they pretty rare? He's a beauty and something like that is what I'd love to try for when I get to the states.

It's nice! Brings a smile to my face.
Same as if you shot a couple boxes of 30-06 with bolt action rifle, then started shooting 243 from a similar rifle.

Bushfire, I'd say scouting, work and luck. Every year there's always a few to go after. You may have a better chance of seeing a nice deer in archery season but he will be out of range.
This buck was running with another big 8 point in the 6th week of bow season but we haven't seen him since. Hopefully he will show up on the camera's after things settle down.

Much the same as everywhere I suppose.

I have bow hunted but it's not my preferred method. I was thinking of taking advantage of PA's flintlock season seeing as that's what I do pretty much all of my hunting with these days.

How old is a buck like that?

The buck is now at a taxidermist getting a European style mount and he will age him.
As a whole Pennsylvania has had some very nice bucks taken over the years but the really big body, big rack deer are taken in the Midwest.
Our flintlock season starts right after Christmas and will run a few weeks. I have a doe tag but will probably not fill it but will join others as the dog. We only have one buck tag per year.
Happy hunting. Mike

I remember seeing hundreds of dead deer on the side of the PA highway back in the late 70s early 80s

I had never heard of Tisas. They're a Turkish 1911 manufacturer with a US footprint in Tennessee. You'll have to do a review. Personally, I love shooting with a .45 1911. They feel and handle extremely well in my opinion. ::nod::👍

Very cold here now. when it warms up I'll take it out for some target work.
I love 1911's, I have them in 9mm, 38 super, 10mm, 45acp and 460 Rowland.

You shouldn't let me see this thread; I could probably overload the system - I have a bad-bad weakness for this kind of stuff. Here is something very simple that is gun "related" - not real gunny, just related. This will probably give you an idea of where my knife collection will head. Although my primary shotgun is a Guerini and my primary rifle is a Winchester - I have this bad passion for Remington, I own a mess of them too. But I just have piles of "stuff" I just can't help it, it's a sickness I tell ya! I have more man than I have cave. This stuff is just right in front of me.

Thanks.
It's a reproduction. Built by Wm Mowery in 1981. Douglas bbl, Siler lock..40cal tack driver. I won several meets and several impromptu matches with it before my eyes went south.
3 shot group at 50yds offhand you can cover with a business card back in '87. Old target tore and it looks like 4 shots. Was a 4 shot match, but I got there too late to foul my bbl and my first shot went wild. I still won the match with 3 good hits. Lol

Super nice looking flintlock. I know what you mean about eye sight. Getting tougher to clearly see the sights.

I'm getting new lenses for my eyes. Cataracts are making night time driving to much of an adventure. Hopefully I can throw these trifocal glasses away too. 😁

That's a MKI made for the Perdersen Device with a oddball scant stock. Most all had the straight grip stocks. Barrel date Jan, 1919. S/N is about that too. Doesn't appear to have ever been issued. Virtually no wear on any of the surfaces that wear. 4 groove bbl is like a mirror. Even had the original oiler/ cleaning kit in the stock. I'm a sucker for 03's. Lol

That but that was in was in 1987. I can still put em down range, just can't tie em quite so close together. Lol
