I think it interesting that Camillus incorporated so many small anomalies into their production lines that seem to intrigue and baffle modern day collectors. Such as the first class shield and the double sided sabre ground blade on a few long line 1047's. Drives a fellow nutty sometimes!

Picked these up the other day at the antique mall.

Ulster bone handled Scout knife My first Camillus 72. I didn't realize just how neat these are until I read the posts about them on AAPK. Now there is one in my pocket. Just a little rehab needed on the tip of that master blade. Is the correct pattern name for the 72 a swell center something?

From 1946 until at least 1979, the name Camillus used was "Carpenter's and Whittler's Knife". Sometime between 1979 and 1984 Camillus dropped the "Carpenter's" from the name and went to just plain "Whittler". They are great knives. So easy to get addicted to.

Reprofile the main and drop it in your pocket. It's not the first 72 to end up with a short main.

That's what I plan on doing. It's tight and sound otherwise. Picked it up for an "Abe" at the antique mall.

I have the impression that they are HUGE or they spend all day every day looking for knives for YOU!

Kinda small actually.....I guess they take in knives frequently. He showed me a Schrade Stage Collection in the glass set yesterday and I was like

Said I have to wait 30 days.......it's ok, I don't have the money for that complete set!

Pretty decent couple of days.

PUMA Gelder 666 - still has the (metal not plastic) toothpick & tweezers. Had to straighten the bail out a bit.

Case 12031L Electricians Knife - Spear blade was bent at the tip. Someone must have tried to pry something with it. Tried to straighten it and SNAP! took off about an 8th of an inch. Reprofiled - cleaned up and not too bad of a user.

Remington cartridge box - I'm thinking that because of the Geese that it was for shotgun shells. No indication of what gauge or even if it was for shells but for 2 bucks I had to have it. If anyone has any insight into what it may have been for then let us know.

Remington R383 Jack I picked up a while back but thought the box needed to be complimented

Nothing wrong with those no name knives. I buy them for a dollar or two and rehandle or otherwise customize them. And they go IN MY POCKET to use. This one is a no name jack I rehandled in white paper micarta. Most are only stamped "USA".

North Star Blade Collectors haul from Nov. meeting. 3 Ulster Knife Co. knives and one gorgeous early Remington harness jack. Unfortunately on my way home I noticed a little white spot on the back scale. When I tried to wipe it off, a pea sized film of paint came off to expose a pea sized white putty that filled a missing chunk of bone from the cap bolster to the first pin. The knife is still worth what I paid but it still was a shock to see and took a little of the excitement away. The big Ulster folding guard lock back is my favorite pattern and the other two Ulsters are awfully nice knives. ___Dave

This year I have been growing in my appreciation of Ulster knives. I'm liking both of yours.

I picked up this as new Schrade USA scrimshaw SC503 lockblade yesterday at a gunshow.

Here's a nice little folder I got recently. A very well made knife and very clean. 3 5/16".
I especially like the stamp.
