So glad you're HAPPY with the new addition, Tom. I couldn't think of a better person who collects license plates to re-home this one too. That plate was on my truck when I was stationed in GTMO for two and half years. Put it on in 1990. Yeah...I'd be very surprised if anyone else in Germany has one of those.

Appreciate the kudos, my Friend. ::handshake::

That’s an awesome and seriously impressive list! I don’t actively collect much outside of knives either, but over the years I’ve ended up with a decent collection of old video games and consoles. I never set out to collect them—it just kind of happened. A lot came from stuff I held onto from growing up, or things family and friends were tossing out. I’ve got my original Atari 2600, a ColecoVision, a few Game Boys, some original Nintendos, plus a PS1, PS2, PS3, and a Wii. Every now and then I’ll grab something if I happen across it, but I’m not out hunting.

As for knives, I had a small collection—mostly Case and other local makers like Camillus and Robeson—but I ended up acquiring a larger collection after a death in the family. That’s when I really started getting more into it. I grew up in Bradford, but I’m up in upstate NY now, so the local knife brands have always meant something to me.

Appreciate you sharing your list—fun to see the wide range of what folks have collected over time.

So we all know how the"raised lettering" on plates are right. Well on the 1965 plate the letters or not"raised", they are indented. Meaning pushed in towards the car bumper. Never seen this feature on any other plate before. So I find that very unique. ::nod::

Hi Tom:

For what it's worth ( ::shrug:: ), I found out today that the depressed characters (lettering/numbers) is known as debossing--the opposite, of course, of embossing (raised lettering). I was looking at some 1960s WV plates at a flea market today and found that the odd numbered years in the 1960s all had the debossing: 1961 debossed white lettering on a red plate; 1963, 1965, 1967, 1969 were all debossed yellow lettering on a blue plate.

While really way too big for my personal tastes, I've gotten back into American pressed-steel toys lately.

Just bought this Tonka today for $20 at my local antique store. Still in pretty good condition, despite a little rust. 100% complete also. No missing or broken parts. The top (commonly missing) along with its supports (usually almost always gone if the top's gone), steering wheel (soft rubber, and they often broke), and the hitch (from kids doing stupid stuff).

Appears Tonka started making these 1:12 Jeeps in the '60s, then discontinued the military version towards the latter years of the Vietnam War. Apparently, this one was 1975 only, as it had the big tires, but still with the CJ-2 grille of the '60s models. In '76, Tonka moved to a newer model with larger headlights and different decals. Then, towards the '80s, the tired old stamping was replaced with a smaller, largely plastic version suitable for Play People figures (3.75-ish).

Bought this plate to add to my sub collection of Universities. It will be the 17th in this sub collection and the 151st in my Total collection of plates.

My Dad's name was Ronald but everyone called him Ronnie so it will be a nice way to remember him in my Carport collection of plates. ::nod:: ::tu:: ::super_happy::
