Ralph, Thanks for the thread. Looked at it and now I can’t stop thinking about it. This is just “knife porn”. You’re killing me Smalls.

Most were made by Queen. The 1906 ones were made in Germany, but imported and sold by Case.
The knives 2007-mid 2012 were made by GEC. All knives made mid 2012-present are made by Queen.

Here is a something old / something new matching pair. The old is a Wilbert Gladiator and the new is a Northwoods Gladiator. Both knives are on a large cigar moose frame. The Wilbert is 4 1/4" and the Northwoods is 4 1/8". The Wilbert is noticeably heavier by at least 2 ounces and is made of much thicker blade and spring stock. There are other noticeable differences in grinds, swedges, nail nicks, etc. They both probably represent state of the art factory knife production from their respective manufacturing eras. The "GLADIATOR" etch on my Wilbert uses different lettering than in the catalog cut. On my blade the etch lettering is all upper case.

Nothing calms a collector's restless OCD quite like having a matching pair...for some reason it just feels so satisfying to have more than one, not only for the balance and order they represent, but to have a back up in case something happens to one of them. I know I'll sleep much easier tonight knowing my Stag Coleman Mini Trapper now has a stag brother to watch over him and keep him company. And for that, I have jerryd (aka, "The Mad Bomber") to thank.
Mahalo, jerryd,

- 1986 Parker-Edwards A95155S Winterbottom Bone Mini Trappers

A couple of Bucks. One made for open stock, the other an SFO made for Walmart. At first glance they look identical but further inspection shows the handles are a slightly different profile and the Walmart knife blade does not have a swedge. They came in green, gray and orange. The Spitfire 722 also came in a Mini. They are a robust knife, easy on the hand, easy on the eye and easy to open.
