Case calls it "Shadow Bone". The one I posted is autumn and the sibling posted below is Hunter Green Shadow Bone. Seems I've established a reputation here. So here I am with a new addition to post. This is another one of those Chinese imports that is of surprisingly good quality. I picked it up at a local flea market this morning for few bucks. I'm a self proclaimed canoe ca-nut so the heart of my collection is canoes........buuuut......I am a knife nut too and my collection goes beyond just the canoe pattern. ... here's probably the best deal I ever got on eBay - really fine knife with no flaws whatsoever: I can relate to all those reasons ... just curious, do you happen to have your Gramps canoe ? I'm fortunate to have my Gramps pocket knife that he carried all his life (he bought it for a nickel when he was a boy, it's nothing special from a collectors perspective, but that knife has special meaning ... in fact, after he died, my dad went over to the house and retrieved that knife - it was the only possession of my gramps that he wanted)Sasquach wrote:Excellent grey bone canoe Lansky!!!
The Reasons that I like the canoe pattern are:
1.) They are so pocket friendly with no sharp edges or corners.
2.) They are such a traditional pattern. They've been around since the late 1800s. My Granddad carried one and my first pocket knife was a canoe.
3.) I've always been a fan of the spear blade for a small utility knife. The pen or secondary blade is a bonus for me.
4.) I have large hands and the canoe pattern seems easier to handle than other patterns of that size.
So, there you have it......why I love canoes.

My sisters saved a lot of his things for me but there were a couple of things that were important to me that weren't among them. Lansky, I didn't want to post anymore non-canoe knives here (I'm guilty of having done so once or twice) so I posted a pic on the knife photography thread on page 466.
