Sometimes when she looks at me with this deep, penetrating gaze, I could swear that Lehua is a mind-reader in a dog suit.
She has already proven that she can communicate telepathically. And I believe she has hypnotized me to obey her commands as well.

Q: Lehua looks formidable. Do you know her heritage?

Lehua is a rare breed of Grizzly Wolf! Her mother was 100% AKC registered Alsatian (aka: German Shepherd), her father was a perfect half-breed of 50% Chow Chow and 50% Akita. She will turn 13 in April 2017; she's been my constant companion since she was two months old. Best dog I ever had...incredibly intelligent, extremely loyal & protective and fiercely territorial. Great guard dog/watch dog and the only dog I've ever known that was able to figure out (all by herself) how to climb up and get over a six foot high chain link fence--a "skill" that got her banned from the boarding kennel for life.
Even though Lehua is not a strong swimmer, she always stands guard over my wife during her daily ocean swim.

I have a cousin that runs a rescue center for dogs and cats. She posts photos on FaceBook trying to adopt them out and also sets up on Saturdays at our local PetSmart.
Sarah visits her FaceBook page and we try to help support her financially.
Two weeks ago Sarah saw a little mixed breed female and told me we needed to go get her. We did. She's about two years old. She's been abused. It took her a week to realize we weren't going to hurt her.
She's had a litter of pups and she and the puppies were taken to a pound in Talladeega. The puppies were adopted and she was up for euthanasia when my cousin took her out of there. She had her spayed.
She has a funny loping run and tends to pound her front paws on the floor and her gigantic ears flop up and down.
She is now exceptionally affectionate.
She and Bonni have not quite figured out their pack positions yet, but they're getting there. They've had one little snap & growl fest, but nothing serious.
Today, I got up off the couch and stepped hard on her back legs, as she was laying right under me and I didn't see her. She screamed pretty loudly and then bit both of us several times as we tried to pick her up. She didn't break the skin, but it's pretty obvious she's had to take care of her own self wherever she was before.
She's OK now.
She was pretty shaggy when we got her. I bathed her that day and got her hair cut the following day. I don't have a picture made before the haircut, but here are a couple I made the other day. They might expand with a left click or two.
That monsters, Inc bed came with her and she's very attached to it.
Her name is Molly. She's charcoal gray with white feet and a white blaze on her neck and chest and some white hairs scattered about her face.

That's a great rescue. I suspect she might be leery about picking that same sleeping spot next to you. Hope it doesn't set back her developing trust. Dogs for the most part live in the present moment so possibly she is already over it. Thanks for the photos.

Q: Impressive. A blend of 3 warrior dogs. Formidable indeed. Within memory none of our presidents had warrior breeds at the White House: no Alsatians, no Dobbies, no Rottys etc. Considered wrong "visuals" I'm sure.

Here's my gang waiting for the next meal to come crawling out from under my shop. Snakes and any vermin are their favorite.

Charlie after seeing how you and Sarah care for Bonni, I'm pretty sure that Molly has just won the dog pound lottery! She's sure got a lot of character showing in her face. Have fun spoiling her.
Wazu it's good to know those cats are earning their keep.
Larry, that's a beautiful dog. I might have a hard time returning him to his rightful owner.

Those are some nice looking cats, Wazu! Of course, I hardly ever see a cat that I do not like the looks of. We have two. Here is our calico trying to get a lizard.

We have a lot of oak trees in our yard and almost every time we go out, my wife's dog will have a oak branch in her mouth. The other day she jumped up on the cart and posed. Flossie is a yard dog and only gets house privileges when there is a thunder storm, she's also a "jamb up good" blood trailer, she'll find a deer that gets in a thick spot before it gives up the ghost. We also have barn cats. She chases them with great abandon but never catches one. The cats stop running, she stops till they go again, funny thing is one of the barn cats has become attracted to her and pesters her when she sits on a storage box on the back deck.
Flossie is the result of a Red merle Australian Shepherd and Chocolate Lab cross.
A couple of picture to support my tales

Cheetah is a 3 year old German Shepherd. He thinks he rescued us when he was 11 months old from the local pound. The look on his face at the first meeting seemed to say, "Get me outta here!"
He takes us to the lake (10 minute walk) as often as he can. He loves people almost as much as he loves food.
Our Grandchildren, neighbors and friends come over just to visit Cheetah.
Many of you have stated that your pets have a psychic ability or a mental phenomena of what you are thinking. Cheetah fits within this description. We don't get it.

Old Folder: Congratulations on a superbly handsome Shepherd. While enjoying and admiring all breeds including mixes, German Shepherd dogs hit my sweet spot. I believe Shepherds have the most expressive faces in the canine world. And Cheetah has that blond color I really dig.
mrwatch: I met my first labradoodle a few weeks ago. One of the sweetest, most intelligent dogs I've ever met. Perfect behavior. It is no wonder their popularity has taken off. Hope that overbreeding due to popularity doesn't adversely affect this newly developed breed.

Dan, that is a beautiful German Shepherd.
My wife and I were upstairs installing a new TV last week, when we heard a crash downstairs. My wife came down to see this.
Joshka got in trouble.

Great pics. Our pets sure are characters, aren't they. Really thankful for mine.
Here a few pics from this year. Nikki, the choc lab is 10 this year. Breaking my heart to see hear slowing down with age.
For some reason, the word "knuckleheads" pops into my mind when all four are playing together. All have distinct and unique personalities just like we all do. Yet they get along in their own way.

Thanks Unk,
With a look that Johka has on his face, I think there was second thoughts on trouble?
Beautiful dog Unk.
