Good comments about ammo prices. For those of you who don't load your own, besides the cost saving, here is another benefit. Target shown was shot at 200 yards with an AR I built from an Anderson lower and CMMG and Magpul parts with a 16 inch Rock River upper. Federal, Winchester, and PMC factory 5.56mm 55gr FMJ in this rifle shoots 2 to 2.5 inches. This handload with the Hornady 55FMJ bullet shot 20 shots into 1 and 3/8 inches at 200 yards. Granted, I fiddled around for awhile trying different powders, but it was worth the effort.

200 yards is very impressive, OC. What scope are you using?

Using a 4-12X Bushnell Trophy made back in the early 1990s. Those were the good Japanese made Bushnells.

OC, if I had produced your target I would frame it.

Funny you should say that, the day I shot that a week ago, I took the target down and put it in my shooting box without paying much attention to it. After I got home I looked at it again and realized that it was 200 yards and not 100. The rifle probably won't do that every time, but does consistently shoot under one MOA which is not bad for a 16" standard barrel. I had a heavy stainless 20 inch barrel DPMS years ago that would come close to this, but that rifle weighed a ton.

I had never owned a 32 cal pistol until recently. I saw Bond Arms made a 3 inch 327 Federal magnum barrel that would interchange on my Bond frame. So I ordered one. The 327 Federal is quite a powerhouse for its size, energy comes in between 38 spl and 357 mag. The operating pressure is 25% more that the 44 mag. And a 327 Federal pistol will shoot 5 cartridges, 32 S & W short and long, 32 H & R magnum, 327 Federal Magnum, and 32 ACP. I will be shooting some over the chronograph to see what it does in a 3 inch barrel.

I have a longtime love of everything .32. I currently own 3 revolvers that will handle the .327 Fed Mag. A Ruger LCR, Ruger SP 101 and Ruger Blackhawk.
In the LCR, no thank you, will stick with 32 H&R
SP101 is OK
Blackhawk is a real hoot with the 327. At an indoor range people ask, What was THAt? A 357 or 44 mag is a Boom, the 327 is more a very loud Crack.

The new 30 super carry is actually a 32, I wonder if your Bond will fire those?

Not going to work. The 30 Super Carry as a semi auto cartridge was designed as a tapered case to function in semi auto guns. The base is bigger than the 32 revolver cartridges to prevent this. The 327 Federal operated at 45,000psi and the 30 Super Carry at 50,000. It also had to be longer to NOT chamber in the old 32ACP guns otherwise the 50,000 psi would blow those old guns to pieces. If it would chamber in the 327 Federal, then it would also chamber in a 32 H & R which operates at a fraction of the pressure and would blow up with death or injury as the result. All new cartridges have to be designed to NOT work in older similar guns to prevent people from blowing themselves up because they will not follow directions.

I bought a couple of boxes of 32 S & W long cowboy loads just for plinking in the Bond.

Nothing but 22 shorts for these two. J STEVENS A&T CO. Stamping on the big one and J STEVENS & CO. CHICOPEE FALLS, Pat.Sep 6 1864 on the small one. Belonged to my father in law.

Very nice old pistols! Glad you have some history with them.
Stevens was a well-known brand for many years. I have a Stevens 311double barrel 12 ga. that my dad gave me for my 16th birthday, killed my 1st buck with it, in fact I ended up actually killing 2 at the same time. I shot the buck, he was standing in a palmetto patch and he went down, I thought he got back up but it was another buck! (That was 60 years ago. )

In the Bond derringer with the 3 inch barrel that I pictured above, I was able to shoot a few rounds over the chronograph. The 327 Federal Magnum factory load with 100 gr jacketed bullet made 1377fps, and the same gun with the 32 S & W Fiocchi cowboy round with 97 gr lead round nose made 718fps. The 327 Federal Mag would be a very effective defensive round at the range of bad breath.

Took the new Ruger MKIV 22/45 out and was very pleased.

I really like this new model.

-what an awesome pistol! I’ve owned a 22/45 previously (an MKIII lite version)
-as expected, this new one did not disappoint
-once I got the dot sight zeroed it was easy to shoot in small groups
-the halo charging ring i put on the back of the bolt makes the operations of this pleasing gun even easier
-trigger is Ok, not super, just Ok… measures 4.5lbs on my wheeler gauge

Picked up a new little Ruger LCP II 6+1 chambered in .380acp at lunch today

13.6 oz fully loaded in included pocket holster

I chose to install the flush mag baseplate vs the one with finger extension


Great for front pocket carry

I picked up this nice Savage 72 22lr single shot at a gunshow over the weekend. Not sure if it has ever been fired, does not look like it has been. These are sometimes referred to as falling block actions, but a tilting block would be more accurate. Shoots good too. This model was made from 1972-1989 by Savage.

My new eyes (post cataract surgery) sure helped!

The BulArmory 1911 has the best trigger, bit the ported M&P 5.5” .45 and the Canik 9mm (with compensator) … each with dot sights… are by far the easiest to shoot well
