All About Pocket Knives

There comes Ray with his Wal-Mart walker full of knives. Somebody want to help him get them loaded in his vehicle?

Great haul Ray I'll help him Jerry might want a little deal on one of them breauties though.

I found this Northwoods fixed blade from a little outdoor store close to my home. I'm fairly positive it's from the Dave Shirley days before Derrick Bohn bought the name. A friend told me he thought it was a Willow Leaf Hunter I'm not sure. If any of you folks have any info abought it please let me know as I have almost no knowledge of Northwoods knives.

I got these at a yard sale yesterday. The top one is a Parker Cutlery , then a Camillus TL-29 , then a small Kissing Crane sod buster then a Old Timer 104 OT. Got them for $16.00 bad thing about the Parker looks like they tried to put a edge on l with a sander. Then the Kissing Crane seen better days never was sharpend.

Re: Northwoods Willow Leaf. I have seen this before and i'm pretty sure it was a Dave Shirley knife. Could have been made by Mike Stewart as he did make some of the Marbles & Northwoods circa 1998-2001 (?).
I'm sure someone here knows the history of this Northwoods W.L. better than what i have said here.

Here is an interesting little knife I found in the latest batch of stuff I picked up. It is a brass embossed pen knife by Voos.
Both handles are identical and they have a logo for Milwaukee 54 UCT. Then to the side of the logo is MILWAUKEE COUNCIL / NO. 54 UCT / MILWAUKEE, WIS. , all with a floral border. Being the computer whiz that I am, I put that into Bing and after looking around some I found that UCT is an organization as follows; The Order of United Commercial Travelers of America (UCT) was formed by eight traveling salesmen on January 16, 1888, in Columbus, Ohio, as a society to provide accident insurance and other benefits for traveling salesmen, or commercial travelers, and their families. They seem to do benevolent work, according to their website. I had never heard of them and found it interesting. I had 1st surmised it was associated with the Masons but apparently not.

That is a neat find Ray. Many of the old advertising knives were well made, not 'cheapo' knives at all, and they give us a 'slice' of history passed. This Voos looks unused and i think is very collectible.

I just found the PM a little while ago. Thanks for that info.
The one you asked about is what I have named the Rough Rider Monstrosity. It is like conjoined twins and it is in need of surgery.
In fact, it is a pair of trappers joined together for some reason I am unable to fathom. My favorite saying is; "it could be yours".

Thanks for the offer, I guess. I originally wrote, before I edited it, "what's that yellow handled lobster looking thing". If that tells you anything. Think I'll let someone else love it. Surely there's someone for it - after all, it has been sold at least twice already!

Todays finds

Well they ain't really fines but they was presented to me today

After my Brother-in-Law's funeral today, one of his sons asked me if I wanted a Mora knife that had belonged to his Dad. I said yeah, I would love to have that. He went out to his truck and gave me this nice Swedish Mora knife with C over A stamp. I have no idea who this Scandinavian maker was, but I sure like the knife. I asked him if he knew where Jim had gotten it, but he had no idea.____Dave

It's always nice to receive a knife that belonged to someone, and and honor to own it.

My Sister-in-Law suggested last night that their Dad had some items that they weren't allowed to mess with in a drawer that belonged to her Grandparents from Sweden, and that this is likely where Jim got it (inherited it) from. That would make sense, but Swedish knives are pretty common around here so Jim likely could have picked it up anywhere. Think I'll go with the inherited story.____Dave

Went to the big flea market south of Dothan this am. Miss Joy didn't feel like going, so I strolled around in the heat for a couple of hours. Not much to see today, dealers were packin' up at 10:30 'cause it was too hot, , South Alabama, July15, wonder what they were expectin'?
One dude was gatherin' up his stuff and I noticed a pile of foreign made knives. There were some with clear handles mixed in the pile. Really blew my budget, got 8 for $5. They are a real POS but they are interesting in that you can see how a lock back works. Good for Grandsons and the next POS roundtable. The knives are marked TRADE UNION KNIFE from the inside of the mark side handle and the tang says STAINLESS MAKING over 420, then stamped on the blade just below the spine ins the word BEAUTIFUL. Also on the tang and the handle is a hand making the "V", victory or peace sign. Oh yeah, most of them had a wonderful beaded chain through the lanyard hole.
Did find a nice little Norton whet rock, red and pretty fine. It is 4" X 3/4" X 1/4", it's a little nicer than the standard pocket carborundum stones.
