She's lucky to have you, she should be counting her blessings.

That Camelback would be cool too see. A picture I found of one on the net, in case someone wondered what one looked like.
That sure is an interesting looking steam engine.

Yes it would be nice to see.
It would, any train enthusiast would enjoying seeing it, I'm sure. I should explain that I thought John would find it particularly meaningful with the family connection to B&O is why I directed that comment towards him.
I guess I will just have to go back sometime and hopefully, see what I missed. I gotta say, my wife was very patient with me exploring the grounds there, not sure she would be keen on going back anytime soon though.
I can relate, I took Brenda to the Shenandoah Valley knife show back in 2019. She didn't fuss or ask to go before I was ready, but I don't think she will go back again and that's ok.

Since her dad and my dad worked together at the B&O in Cumberland, I think she would like the B&O Museum in Baltimore though, one day we will test it out.

A few pics from museum visit.....
The Milwaukee Road refrigerator car was used primarily for produce. It had ice bunkers at each end, capable of holding 10-11000 lbs of ice. In the winter, charcoal heaters would be placed in the bunkers to prevent the product from freezing.
The NYC electric loco was used to haul passengers from Grand Central to Harmon, N.Y.
Ike,
The 7th picture down in this bunch reminded me of a little switch engine that the A. Duda & Sons farms used at at least two of their farms. The two farms I knew about were in Zellwood and Belle-glade, FL. They switched refrigerator cars at the precoolers with it. That was over 50 years ago. Their little engine was diesel powered. It was moved between farms on a big truck. One day someone ran the switch engine off the end of the special rail loading area. That incident put the engine out of commission for a while. In the meantime, they used a 3/4 ton 4X4 Ford to switch the railroad cars as they were being filled with produce and ice. That would have made a great commercial for FoMoCo.

This is an old shot, but this is what will be happening around parts of our state soon, we have had a fantastic season for grain crops.

Beats a museum photo!
Crops are generally good in U.S. also, so.......food prices go down, right?

Well, I am glad that yourself listened to what you had to say, and that you have posted a photo! Good one!
Did you ever have occasion to see the Newcastle Flyer? It operated in NSW (region where you live, right?) But ceased operation in 1988 so maybe that isn't within your timeframe. Anyway, I was looking at some Australian trains (online) and thought it to be an impressive loco.

No, well in my timeframe, but different state. So unfortunately never got to see it.

Norfolk & Western compound locomotive, designed for hauling coal trains in Blue Ridge mountains, the two sets of front drive wheels could be used independent of each other to maneuver tight mountainous turns.
Missouri Kansas Texas wood caboose, built in 1882 used on Katy Flyer

Great bit of info about the front wheel sets, amazing engineering when you think of it, and very creative for the time.

Driving by one of the local mines and see a NS just loaded and leaving. Then, after I took a few pics, I see a UP pulling in to fill up with coal. It was headed by 2 UP locos and third in line was this Kansas City Southern.
