A few pages back in this thread I posted this one David .
Same knife , different shield . All blades stamped.
I have them with at least 4 different style shields .
I’ll dig them out of the safe when I get the time .
I believe they are very early knives , probably pre 1922 before ulster got a contract to make official Boy Scout knives .

Thanks Mike, ::tu:: they do look alike.
I have never had a knife that could be that old yet looks New and unused. ::undecided::
It had to have been passed from collector to collector to stay in this condition. ::hmm::

Picked up this Ulster 3 1/2" curved sheepsfoot jack, pick bone, don't recall seeing very many old curved jacks.

I picked up this duo a few months back. Seems to be 2 different generations of the 10th Mountain Division knives. Herb is doing a patch job and a reprofile on the older one with the U.S. bail. I've been looking for one of these for a while now, had no idea I would find 2.

Very nice knife, John. I agree, you do not see that profile very often. I have one quite similar to yours by another maker.

How about a ULSTER tang stamped ULSTER U.S.A. and numbered 11 on the back. Then ink etched on the blade JACK KNIFE BEN.

Jack knife Ben started contracting knife company to make good knives way back in the early 1900,s and put his name on them. Then he would sell them at the Union Stock Yards in Chicago. First ones were made by Napanoch, Winchester, and Schrade. There are a lot of stories on the web about him.

Added a smaller Ulster dogleg jack, already had a large one, both are ebony.
