I forgot to mention and RalphAlsip (Jerry) posted some fine reading and info as well as referring to F-stops but depth of field is no doubt important for sharp photos (personally I use an F-stop of around 8 in my setup - I do believe the larger the F-stop the greater the depth of field..

Ditto what doglegg said. It is interesting how the color red can make a photo "pop." Photographers for National Geographic magazine were well known for carrying a supply of cheap red scarves. When shooting scenes of large crowds they would have one or two people wear the red cloth. From Bangladesh, to Rio, to Sweden, those red scarves would turn up in the magazine.

Speaking of awesome photos, fabulous colors and layouts Monk, you always knock it out of the park. Wow. Great shot of those trees in the background, knife on the post. Beauty shot, I imagine when the leaves turn that view will be incredible.
