Actually, "ignorant" is simply a lack of knowledge. We're all "ignorant" to some degree. Somehow it's gained negative connotations and has become a slur.

I agree with Jerry, ignorant means you've not been taught or shown...stupid is when you've been taught and shown and still screw it up repeatedly.
When I was a kid, someone told me that how smart you are often times has a lot to do with where you are standing. If you take a country boy and drop him in the middle of a city, he might not look to bright.....same with taking a city boy and putting him on a farm. I reckon the same principle applies to jobs or hobbies.

I'm a country boy who is smart enough to not leave these in the city when I visited today. The Sunfish is a Union Cut. stamped Union an American shield on tang, the Timber scribe is a Fielding which I believe is mid 1800's, the Whittler is a Boker, Germany, the Bartenders knife is a John Pritzlaff Hwdr. with awesome perfect pearl on both sides and full blades, the celluloid waterfall is a Western States (arched) with perfect scales and really nice blades. None of these broke the bank so I'm one happy country boy camper.___Dave

My initial reaction to this post was literally "Are you freaking kidding me??"

The big 'fish and the bartender both knock me clean across the room out of my socks, and even though I have absolutely no use for or general interest in the pattern, the stag on that scribe is ridiculous.

Excellent acquisitions Dave! Like Tony said that TS stag is just outstanding . The others are very nice also. If I could go into any city in the USA and liberate those specimens I would be ecstatic! Lloyd

Yeah, Thanks guys. You may have noticed that I'm still having a little trouble staying focused on collecting a particular style, or handle material, or brand, but I'm getting better. this time I managed to collect all knives at least. Sometimes other things sneak in the collection. ___Dave

Yes sir it's a copperhead made by Carl Schlieper. At first I thought it was the Jim Bowie line, but Scott informs me it didn't say Jim Bowie so it's an Eye Brand.

Just for comparison, here are the three that I have. The top is German Eye Brand and was the knife my daddy packed the whole time I was growing up. The blades are way worn down. The other two are the Jim Bowie line also made by Schlieper with Kentucky shields.
Here are the stamps, as good as I could get them. That's oil on the Jim Bowie blade not scratches. Dad's is so patinaed it was hard to get a pic and the blade etch is pretty near gone.
