I think this year was the furthest shot on a deer I’ve had in a while at 90yards only because it was on the edge of a clear cut.
::handshake::

I couldn’t see 90 yards in the woods I hunt in.

I picked up the Desert Eagle from the FFL thursday evening. It is a massive piece of machinery. As heavy as it is, there is no doubt that 44 mag recoil will be a non-issue. I was going to try it out today but it's too cold out. (-17*)

I picks this little gem up off of the bay. 1950s or 1960s I’m thinking Redfield model 70 receiver sight made for Winchester or Marlin lever actions.

It was all gummed up and frozen, and I actually popped half the head off of one of the little 4-40 screws on the indicator plate trying to get it off. But a trip to ACE ought to solve that.

I disassembled it, cleaned and oiled everything, and she’s ready to go no. I had an aperture laying around so I put it on too. But after I sight it in, I’ll probably remove it and just go ghost ring.

Well that was a short but sweet love affair.
Went to the range today, fired one, 8 round mag, accuracy was very good, especially considering I was mostly just checking for function, spent cases went to my right rear and I was able to find them all. Recoil was mild.
However, I had 3 failures to completely cycle, I had to manually push the bolt closed on those 3.
Does the gun just need to be broke in? Maybe, but I'll never know. I wont own a firearm that I don't completely trust.
This one is for sale. :(

Call the company. Also, some new guns need cleaned before use. Another thought, were your shots going to the left? If so, you aren’t putting enough pressure on the grip with your left hand. Both of those suggestions will cause your problem.

I decided to give it another try with some different ammo this coming weekend. If it doesn't work out, I may check out a new Anaconda.

Ken, you might want to check, or have a gunsmith check, the magazines. I don't know who makes your firearm but I would see if there is any commentary about it on YouTube.

I suggest feeding the beast different ammo(s) before giving up on it.
Give it a good clean and lube, too.
Also, it might be difficult to not limp-wrist something of that size (I know I would!)
:-P

You'll be better off with the Anaconda in my opinion.

ken, it could be the ammo, cleaning issue or something wasn't milled just right. Also, as stated by another, it could be your grip/shooting style. If you don't have a tight grip on some handguns they won't cycle properly.

Made in USA, I love me some 10/22!

Could be ammo. I have a Ruger 1911 that feeds anything and everything you can throw at it…EXCEPT the Hornady gummy tipped Critical Duty and Defense. It won’t feed the reliably, and that’s ok. I don’t care for them anyway.

Very nice. I’m a 22 nut myself, although I’ve traded off most of mine. I’m just left with a Marlin 80E, a Ruger 10-22, and a Marlin 39M. I dearly love shooting 22s.

What you said Bro. Wade is true with lots of folks, "I dearly love shooting 22s." My 1st recollection of a 22 was my mother's old Remington 33, a single shot that I carried in the woods when I was a little feller. I wish I had kept a list of all the 22s I've owned when I was younger, we traded them like marbles. I could tell all sorts of tales concerning me and a 22. (That would be a good title for an essay, "Me and a 22.") I keep one on my old woods cart all the time, it is rusty but it still shoots, there's one in the floorboard of my old F-150 4X4, there are several old 22s in different corners of the house near a door and there are several thousand rounds of 22s where I keep my ammo. When our children were small and they didn't have much money or ran out of ideas for a gift for their dad's birthday or Christmas, a brick or tub of 22's was in order. ::tu::
The most ribbing I ever took on a trade concerning 22 rifles was when I traded a Marlin model 60 for a Winchester model 67 Boy's Rifle. Even the man I traded with asked me, "You sure about that?" Everyone thought I was nuts. Who would trade an automatic for a single shot? :) (I know, semiautomatic but they all called 'em "automatics" back then. Still have the Winchester in my pile! ::tu::
Time to quit before I get wound up.
