That's ok Greg. I already have them traded for some Remington stuff.

Yesterday a friend came by gave me a couple of interesting "things".
They appear to be homemade fixed blades. Just kinda' odd looking, each has a copper ring around the short wood handle, the one on the top has a sabre ground blade, the other has no taper or grind of any kind on the edge or spine, just an 1/8th inch knife shaped blade.
Could these have possibly been kits or just someone's project? No pins in the handles to hold it to the tang.
Something different to put in the pile .

Treefarmer those look like the standard companion blades to a kukri, but much larger. They must have belonged to a massive kukri.

I can see where that is possibly where these little blades came from. Noticed some pictures on Google that were very similar in shape and size. The workmanship is not very good but because of shape and size they would marry up in a handle of a larger knife.

Edit: Dug a little deeper thanks to Paul sending me in the right direction! The little knife that is sharpened is called a KARDA, it is use for skinning, cutting paper, small jobs.
The little one that has no tapered edge is called a CHAKMAK, it is used to sharpen the KUKRI knife and the smaller KARDA knife.
In the pictures of the variuos scabbards for the larger Kurki knife there are spaces for the Karda and the Chakmak.
Some of the Kurki knives a made from truck springs in primitive shops.
Nepal seems maybe to be the origin of the Kurki knives. Some are for the tourist trade, some are military and some are useful tools to those that work. Who knows, they may have forum over there that asks, "What Kurki are you carring today?"
I probably wont spend much time huntin' for a Kurki like I would a Queen or a Case!

My Dad gave me some old salt water surf rigs and lures from his stash yesterday, as well as a filet board and knife. This filet knife is an old Schrade+ 167 Uncle Henry - it was pretty sharp and touched up to razor sharpness on the ceramic sticks - going to put the lures in the Atlantic this weekend - hope to use the Schrade. OH

Was going thru my tub of knives to see what and how to sell what I had and stumbled on this "odd shaped small blades" knife with
burl handles....

I thought to myself, I bet this is a carving knife. Sometimes I amaze myself at just how brilliant I be! uh huh, I is! LOL

Remington UMC Red,White & Blue Boy Scout Pocket Knife R3335

Still has bluing on inside of opener and punch. Maine blade shows some honing wear but nice and full still. The bail is in tact and straight.. many have the bails either bent, or missing. Not mint, but an excellent example.

Just in.. near mint!

I was able to slip off for a few minutes and check a small section of the "Flea Across Florida" yard sale. I saw a lot of interestin' stuff, a few imported knives and finally found a man that had some real knives. He had 4 or 5 old Scout knives, Camillus and Ulster, pretty much wore out and all had handle problems plus they were tryin' to get $15 a piece for them. Then I noticed a Case Mini-Trapper he had marked at $20 and to my surprise it has never been sharpened. Then I saw an Upson Nut Co. No. 32 1/2, 12" wooden folding rule and a pile of big kitchen/butcher knives. Here is where this got interesting, the guy said he'd take $2 for the folding rule and $10 for any of the butcher knives and he reminded me of the Case knife I looked at. He said I'll knock of 5 dollars on the Case and then we got to dickering and in the end he got my $20 bill and I got the Case 10207 SS, the antique wood rule and an unsharpened 8" Robeson butcher knife. It don't happen like this very often.

Nice days work at the North Star Blade Collectors meeting. I'm really starting to like these little daggers and I don't do either of two occupations that used them.____Dave

The pearl opener is outstanding. Can you ballpark what you paid for it?

I paid $15 for it but it does have a crack in the back scale. I generally am known for not spending much on anything. ____Dave

The reason I have so few MOP knives. Stuff is probably too delicate to be on the handle of a tool like a pocket knife.

Sure does look purty, though. Scott (TripleF) just brokered a small Queen stockman in beautiful, fiery pearl. It's far and away my nicest vintage Queen knife. It's probably gonna get babied but it will be carried.

The little English dagger I bought today has perfect fiery pearl with no cracks or blemishes and I was trying to figure out how they drilled the hole through it for the tang (it appears to go all the way through) without breaking it. Some of that pearl must have been really thick too because the pearl on the dagger is about 5/16th or inch thick or better. ___Dave

These three came home with me from today's flea market: Marbles Safety Hatchet, KA-BAR (over STAINLESS), and Robeson (over Shure-Edge (script) over ROCHESTER).

I believe the knives date from the 1930s. The KA-BAR fishing knife has an "Endorsed by Zane Grey" etch and is near mint. The Robeson has really nice bone and the brass liners are milled; also has one pin crack.

The hatchet has replacement handles (I'm pretty sure the originals were black composition). I don't know the various Marbles axe/hatchet models; do one of you gurus happen to know the era for this one? Thanks,

While Miss Joy was doing her physical therapy this mornin', I ran a few errands and had a few minutes to check out the local antique store. I looked around and didn't see much that interested me and the owner asked, "Did I show you the knives last time?" I said no and he says, "Here's one", and laid out a 3207 CV, then he dug into a file cabinet a drug out a about a dozen knives. I made an offer on four, he said, almost, then I countered with, "Throw in the Uncle Henry, that's been neglected and abused." He grinned, I'm pleased! Then he said, "You got all the good ones!"
