All About Pocket Knives

The same shield is on the AAPK knife! (poorly glued in, mine fell out! Mine says Rancher on the back! ! Waste not, want not.)

Wonderful display, Phil!!

This knife is only 3" long, but with the nicely proportioned slabs of Stag, it looks bigger. Although advertised in the Schrade Cut Co catalogs, genuine Stag is pretty rare. This knife has Crocus polished blades, and hand cut threading on the bolsters. It was a top-end knife in its time!

In contrast to the small pen knife above, this hefty Jack, at 3 3/4" is a mittfull! Plain by comparison, with a "barehead" end and smooth bolsters, it's still stylin' with Peachseed bone, and a nice shield!

The dark streak on the previous knife is from my creaky old scanner, not the knife ! WhadamIgonnadoo, when my scanner bites the dust??
The scratches on the knife pic below are the same thing - the scanner glass gets abused from too many knife placements.

Nie examples Fran! If that Wolfie bone is the same as Schrade's standard line of the day, you've got an old one there

Charlie, yes it is an odd pull, mighty short, isn't it? The blade has the same etch as yours, only it's mighty faint. I wonder if this knife is a later incarnation? Seems the long pulls got shorter (and wider) as the years progressed.

I think that "Wolfie" bone, and the arched stamps are definite signs of age; nice EEs Fran!

Yours could be later, Eric. I was under the impression the latest Schrade-produced knives for M&G, D-E, and KeenKutter all had Schrade tang stamps, with appropriate etches, to save production costs, so yours tosses a monkey wrench into that thinking if it's later. Will we ever know for sure??

Charlie I think Dave overlooked your question. Probibly too busy admiring his new look.

The red wheel rotates and if you look very closely you can see at about 8 O'clock there is an opening where knives can be removed from the display. Of course if you only take one it will run out of balance.

Nice knives guys Had to had to get veiw number up 1.

I've seen several of the 152/34 gift sets in the Old Timer configuration.
Several years ago I ran across this Ducks Unlimited version.
Even has the UH trimmings.

This is probably an early WWII era TL-29, after they dropped the nickel-silver shield, but before they switched to plastic handles.

Hey Dave,
I like to take the screwdriver out and rework the knife, though I wouldn't do it to a Cut Co like that one.

Here is one I made from a Camillus TL-29, I made the brass bolsters.
Camel bone handles & filework. Sorry for the blade glare. Scanners do that.

Not trying to hijack the Schrade thread, just show what is possible with the pattern.
(Camillus was the sister to company Schrade).

Here is one from another Schrade sister company, Ulster.
I would guess the date to be most likely in the 1950s, possibly late 1940s or as late as mid 1960s.
I think it is most likely in the 1950s though.
Does anyone know for sure?
