A Rifle Cartridge Shield (is it 30.06, perhaps? ::shrug:: ) on a United (Japan) Mini Trapper:

Cool Shield. Could be loosely based on a 30-06, or just a generic representation. Dimension wise close, but seems the case head area at the base and extractor groove is a little more rebated. Still a good looking knife shield.

This shows it a little better and the knife deserves it.

Not my knife, but such a cool shield I just had to post it here. Does anyone on the forum have one of these GEC #88 "Swamp Green" Bayou Trappers?

I don't have one but I sure would like to own one. I'm a sucker for shields and that one is unique.

My Dad worked for the B & O railroad and this is his union pocket piece with the "Brotherhood" shield. Funny, a union giveaway made in Italy! I was a union ironworker in college and you'd better not even show up on the job-site driving a foreign made car. J.O'.

Here is a shield from a Craftsman brand stamp.

I think Schrade made this hunter.
I hope someone can confirm that or correct me.

Joe,
Here's a similar one from Craftsman. Don't know who made them. Handles look like BUCK.Could be SCHRADE ??? This one is a 95026 pattern 5-1/4". Blades are reverse of yours, skinner in front of clip. Nice solid knife. Good luck, J.O'.

Joe, the different cutlers who made knives for Craftsman are probably more than I'm aware of but the ones I know have done so are Ulster, Camillus, Schrade, and Case. If I had to guess from your photo I'd hang my hat on either Schrade or Camillus. That's just a semi-educated guess.

Well, I am hesitant to post this here since technically this forum is supposed to be exclusively for "Traditional Knives From the Old Days" and I've already been chastised for wrongly posting modern Wharncliffes in a different thread of this same forum. But, since there are probably at least as many newer/modern shields as older ones already posted here (possibly even more...I didn't bother to count), I'm just going to follow the trend and beg for understanding and forgiveness from the "organizational purists." (Please don't bite my head off if you don't feel modern shields should be included in this thread...I'm hardly the first or only one who has done so. ::paranoid:: )

~Q~ I don't think (AAPK Janitor 369 Miller Bros) initial post set a time frame on "Got Shields"
However, thanks for rebooting the Got Shields thread. ::handshake::

Damm the "organizational purists" full speed ahead. Add one to the newer/modern shields group.

Below is a new shield from smkw Rough Ryder Tortoise/Turtle Shell Series. Six (6) knives currently available in this series now.
This 'Cub Lockback' is sweet.

Turtle Shield (2).jpg

(Educational Foot Note)
What’s the difference between turtles and tortoises? While these terms are often used interchangeably, the turtle is a flat-shelled sea creature, while the tortoise has a dome-shaped shell and lives on land. But even with these differences in habitat, both the turtle and the tortoise are auspicious animals. The tortoise lives much longer than the turtle – 150 years for the tortoise vs. 40 years for the turtle. With this in mind, the tortoise rather than the turtle is the creature that is associated with longevity.

Thanks, Dan. I like that tortoise shell shield, it reminds me of another one of my favorite shields which I know I've posted before but since it goes well with the other animal theme shields on this page, I'm going to show it again.
