A look down the bike trail. It’s less than a quarter mile walk from my house. Even on a rainy day , it’s still beautiful. This was an old rail line. The second photo is a look down my driveway. The beauty of autumn passes so quickly, got to get out and enjoy it before all the leaves fall.

Had a couple boys and a dad yesterday....

Those are some beautiful colors, how lucky you are. Ours most years goes from green to brown overnight. I use to do inspection tours at Crane Naval Weapons Depot there in Indiana and I always planned it around the 3rd week in October. The base commander would let the public drive aboard to see all the fall colors.

The weather guessers are predicting a frost here tomorrow night, which three weeks earlier than normal. So maybe this year we will have some fall color lasting more than a couple of days.

Here's some color at the pond where I walk.
This won't last much longer.

Beautiful view. I'm envious. For some reason we get little color in my vicinity tho I am pretty sure there are many areas in this state that are very colorful.

I've always thought it odd that Texas would get colder temps, frost and even snow before we see it here in Jersey.

We usually don't get the first frost until the third week of November but sometimes as late as after Christmas - occasionally we have freshly picked ripe tomatoes for Christmas or even New Year's dinner. Most years we don't get any snow but if we do it's in February, and it all melts the next day.

What you have to know about Texas weather is, there's nothing between here and the North Pole but a couple of barbed wire fences. And some fool keeps leaving the gates open! So when that Arctic air gets headed south it comes with fury.

The good news is it rarely lasts.

Yeah, I'm kind of a weather nerd; not a full blown geek, but I have been known to watch the weather channel for a couple hours straight.
I'm familiar with the far southern dips in the jet stream during the cooler months, and the high ridges of the warmer months.

I'm struggling with upper level lows.

The weather guessers don't know either but they're smart enough to try to keep us more confused than they are!

Our weather guessers are on target today, they said rain and it has sprinkled all day and they say it will continue for a few more days.
As for fall colors we don't see a lot of fall color like the pictures y'all have been showing further north. The cypress trees will turn a brilliant orange for a few days before the needles drop. There is always small displays of color like the wild grape vine leaves will be brilliant yellow, we have to look for evidence of fall. I did find on beautiful red display the other day, it was the Rye grain we planted in the deer plot. When it first sprouts the little plants are red, a welcome sight after a very dry summer. What a difference 3 days makes in my little deer plot: Treefarmer

Went fishing with a friend Monday afternoon.

Lots of shad schools, but nothing after them.

Got this one on top water chugger just off a willow weed bed. About 2 1/2 lbs.

Treefarmer, that is quite the transformation.

What a great way to spend a day in late October, Charlie. Catching a two and a half pounder on top water is a lot of fun. Are you a catch-and-release kind of guy or is that a picture of the main entree on your Monday night menu?

I found this little guy snuggled against the inside bottom of the shop/garage door. Must have been cold down there.
He wasn't moving much.
I don't mind him being in the shop. I just hope he doesn't go after the peanut butter in the mouse trap.
He's pretty small. I think a mouse would kick his butt.

Probably just looking for a warm place to curl up and spend the winter.

Nice garter snake, Joe. I always like it when reptiles come to visit. My wife is not so fond of them.
