If you go for the Schrade Heritage Barlows, make sure you go for a brown one. And definitely leave the green ones alone.

I wasn't really expecting to purchase anything as I have stretched my knife budget too far lately. But you know how it is, the road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that.

So I left with this 1984 Schrade in as new condition. No box and papers but I doubt it has ever been used. The dealer has had it for years and I have oogled it many times before so when he cut me a real sweet deal I couldn't resist it.

Very nice pick up. I think the schrade heritage series are some of the most beautiful production knives ever made.

Here is something a bit different. Coming back from getting the Sunday newspaper I see a sign for an estate sale. Stop in and they have mostly nothing but in a box was a bunch of these little critters.Combination cigar box opener/closer and bottle opener advertising John Ruskin and Melba cigars.They also make a great knife opener;the end fitting the nail mark of a knife perfectly. Bought four of them for a dollar.

Gun/knife show finds today. 2 near mint unused lockbacks ; A Buck 500 made in 1990 and a Browning USA stamped to read with the point down shown with a couple Stevens guns that tagged along. I got the knives for $22.50 each. The shotgun 410 was $90 and the 32 Cal. Crackshot half round barrel was $130.

Dave, you're gettin' to be like Scott, coming up with all kinds of interestin' stuff ! The Crackshot, is it a rim fire or center fire? It really looks nice, judging by the screw heads on the side you showed. It almost has some color left in the receiver.
The .410 and the knives ain't too shabby either .

Phil, I don't know enough to be dangerous. I thought it was a .22 until I showed it to a knowledgeable friend who informed me it was a .32. I think it is a rimfire but I'm not sure. The firing pin is just above the shell retractor so it doen't appear to be in the center. The owner called the barrel a "half round" and I can't find that on line. They all have full round barrels so I don't know what I have. The 410 has a mark in what looks like millimeters and my friend didn't know what to make of that. A guy at the show had a large collection of old Winchesters he had purchased and was pricing them to sell quickly. He had a bunch of old .22 slide actions with long hex barrels. I could have spent a lot more money at his table. I couldn't keep up with Scott because he sells the stuff he gets. Mine just piles up.___Dave

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert.

The J. Stevens 26 Crack-Shot rifle in .32 Rimfire is a cool rifle. But... the .32 Rimfire cartridge is obsolete. So unless you want to pay $100 - $200 a box for questionable vintage ammo, it's a wall hanger.

Yeah. I hadn't planned any hunting trips with it so that doesn't bother me and I won't be buying any shells. I just liked the gun and I finally have one that I can hang on my office wall and won't lose any sleep over.___Dave

20 yrs ago, some Brazilian ammo mfg'er made a bunch of 32rf (CBC, I think) ....but from what I've read, it's all gone. You never know though, keep your eyes open and snoop around some places for a box or two. It would be fun to fire it.

That's the way I like to find 'em. Clean it up and make it look good. I had found a Boker that was missing the shield at a good price, Boker gladly sent me a shield but it was the wrong diameter . So I finally found a real "junker" with the proper shield .

GD, I have what I believe is kin to your knife in serpentine jack format. How long is that knife unopened? Mine has the tree on the pile side of the master along with the number 8348. Master is a wee bit short but it was reground well and I like the enhanced belly.
This is what mine looks like after a 2-day mineral oil bath and some scotch-brite on the blades to get rid of some annoying black gunk. Should be down to just honest patina & blade steel at this point. Master pivot needs a little more work and maybe some liquid bearings, but it's just about pocket-ready once both blades kiss an Arkansas stone.

Here's another 110 for my collection... Nothing particularly rare -I just like the "old school" 110s.

TF that's what I was thinking thanx Slinger Tsar right now she's in a mineral oil bath but your jack sure looks like the same frame

Got four today;3 kitchen knives and a Camillus fish jack(see separate thread in the Q&A forum).The paring knives are by Henckels and Wusthof and the slightly larger knife also by Henckels.They are all new still in the original sleeves for $2 each.
The Camillus is a bit unusual and I paid $20 for it.
