Yeah I sure did down´t I? I have just started to go through them all and most are in decent to good condition actually.
Cleaning, oiling and sharpening them is next but that´s just fun!

Stopped by the local Hospice Thrift Store and found this sabre grind Chicago Cutlery knife.....just had to have it!!

That big post on the last page.
A LOT to like! I like Jack and Pen knives.

That is a quite handsome knife Scott, especially for kitchen cutlery.

I stopped by a pawnshop on my way home from a bird hunting trip yesterday and found this Buck 121 Fisherman from the mid 1970's era in the display case. It needed a little TLC last night on the edge - looks like someone used an electric kitchen sharpener on the edge. Luckily it wasn't too bad, half an hour with the Lansky stones, followed by ten minutes of stropping and ceramic stick work has it at about 80% of whole again. Taking it with me duck hunting and fishing tomorrow - maybe it will get to earn it's keep - $25 is a big investment in a used knife! OH

Valerie has been in the hospital in Lexington for a couple of days (about to leave for home now thank the Lord). So that gave a chance to stop by my favorite out of town pawn shop. There wasn't really anything much worthwhile except this 1990 Buck 112. It's got the least little tiny bit of a ripped blade, but sold other than that with a great sheath.

I figured it was worth the $10 + tax. Here's a pic off the car trunk lid.

Can't go wrong with a tight old 112, especially for a little bit of pocket change like that. Great find!

Home from the North Star Blade collectors meeting with a load. Queen 1997 NSBC club knife mint in box . Awesome pearl for $50, Case 1940 to 65 stag kids knife $75, 1980 Buck 110 mint in box with all papers, $65, Remington stockman white composite, Rem R22 slick black, AW Wadsworth double end sleeveboard jack with awesome scales, Winchester 2703 Barlow, Winchester 2990 peanut, German sport knife with shell extractor. (can't make out enough of the name yet) with saw, corkscrew and spear point (some damage to nail pull but awesome scales) $140 for all 6. ____Dave

There's something special about that old Winchester brown bone, my Barlow has the same handles and they look and feel absolutely amazing. But that Queen pearl Congress makes my jaw drop. I think you need to feature that fiery pearl in a few close-ups.

Awesome haul! I need to set aside a weekend for a show, knock wood...

It's kind of overcast and rainy but I tried to get a clear picture with semi-lousy results. Both sides are fiery with a lot of color. ____Dave

Dave it appears to me you made quite a haul at the meeting. I like all of them. That pearl congress is a beautiful knife. I'm a sucker for a congress knife and pearl is like icing on the cake to me. I'm tryin' hard not to covet that one.

I have another 110 in the original box and another brand new one I got along with a fixed Buck that I posted a few weeks ago in the Buck thread. They would make a great family picture so I'll do that this afternoon. I don't actually, at least not purposely at least collect Bucks, but they sure have started piling up over the years. I have a drawer full of fixed blade Bucks and two counter display cabinets. I even took the plunge and bought a 110 conversion a year or two ago. Dang, I guess I do collect Bucks. That might make a good picture but they are all stored in different safes, drawers and cases. It'll make a fun afternoon project for me. ___Dave

Went "antiquing" yesterday at a place I haven't been to for a while.
The owner is a super nice guy and he often has a couple of knives for sale.

I wasn't really expecting to purchase anything as I have stretched my knife budget too far lately. But you know how it is, the road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that.

So I left with this 1984 Schrade in as new condition. No box and papers but I doubt it has ever been used. The dealer has had it for years and I have oogled it many times before so when he cut me a real sweet deal I couldn't resist it.

Jim, unless I'm sadly mistaken (it happens more often than you would think) a 1984 Schrade would have come bulk packaged and had no individual boxes nor paperwork. Check with some of the Schrade guys.

Jim, I don't think I could have said no to that sweet Schrade Heritage red bone either. I finally managed to score a Barlow in brown bone but all it's done is make me ravenous for green bone and red bone examples.

The 1983-4 Heritage Barlows sure did come packaged in 2-piece boxes with paperwork. I can't speak to the trappers as I've never seen them in original condition like that, but I imagine they would have been similarly packaged. Not my photo, but this is an example of the Barlow:
