Marco, just a quick little FYI...Sidlow Baxter is the name of the person quoted by Charlie Noyes (RobesonsRme.com) in his signature line.

Here are my only Robesons...both Mini Trappers (naturally), and two of the finest knives in my Mini-T collection.

I found this Robeson on the auction site, was attracted to it by the scales.

This only site I found much information about this brand.

Blades pivots were covered with grime and rust. Next step is to clean the blades, polish, and try to remove the grinder marks.

It’s a later production knife, but I suspect it was made before they ceased manufacture in 1965.

Looks to me like a 253 pattern, but that’s a pure guess, an educated guess, but still a guess.

The handles are Robeson’s patented, “ShurWood” a laminated wood material that was resin impregnated.

It was very much like, if not essentially identical, to Case’s Paccawood, but it was made in a separate facility belonging to Robeson.

The OP knife has seen some major use and abuse.

It would not be difficult or time consuming to locate a much better example, if wanted as a collector piece, but as a utilitarian knife, that’s all one needs.

Probably has very good steel and will serve one well.

Yes, the 253 is part of the number stamp on backside of main blade.

I was drawn to the knife because of the scale conditions, very good! No scratch’s, groves etc.

Of two other examples I have seen since acquiring is even though the blades are scratched they both or full bellied, this has not been over sharpened. Others the blades are toothpick shape.

You do think this was made after 1965? I used the tang stamp examples on this site and thought it was dated between1940 and 1964 iirc?

I was not aware of Robeson heritage until I stumbled upon this pen knife. I will keep eye out for other examples.

I think it predates 1965 and was made by Robeson in their factory in Perry, New York.

After Robeson went out of business in 1965, the rights to the name were acquired by others and knives have been made since that time.

A fatty, Robeson 22250 jumbo, 3 7/8" and thick. Has seen plenty of hard use but still tight with bear trap snaps. This one was a real workhorse and shows some damage from use.

I have this large 3 3/4” Robeson easy opener scout , extra large bail , pattern number 122156 . I guessing mid 1920s ?

Man you are the vintage beauty knife finder. Another score John, beautiful wood, great patina, looks like about full blades and dripping with character and history.

Here is a fatty, 122120, 3 7/8", snaps like a trapped bear.

A little different: has the beaver etch and a long bolster.

Good find Joe, the fatties are some pretty interesting knives, great yours still has some etch.

Very nice piece, that looks sweet and love the shield and those blades. Congrats.

Here is one you don't see everyday. Robeson 752742 pearl with 3 worked backsprings. All stamped except the long file blade. 3 1/4" closed.
