Scott, now that is a very good picture of that moth, don't remember the last time I saw that or anything like it in my area. The knife isn't bad either.

From this summers trip to Ontario. Finally got a decent picture of the black squirrel, and while the loon is a little dark, it is the closest photo we were able to get. Although earlier in that evening, my daughter had a loon following her plastic lure underwater. I told her she better get that rig in the boat which she promptly did. The loon continued its underwater swim right under the boat. Pretty neat and a first for us.

What I think is even better than the pictures is the time you spent with your daughter and the memories she will have. Way to go Dad! ::tu::

To have a Loon swim beneath your boat is as cool as cool gets. ::tu::

Found it. The red-spotted purple (Limenitis arthemis astyanax) is a forest butterfly commonly seen in suburban wooded areas.

Mailman - cool photos. I would love to see a loon swim under our boat. We have a lot of loons here in winter and I always like seeing them, Our water is not usually clear enough to see anything swimming more that a foot or so below the surface.

Nice to see dove season off to a good start, Mike!

Had some of the grandkids over the other day to harvest my pears. We have some pear, apple and peach trees and the kids look forward to harvest every year. They also make themselves sick eating them while they work. For Cheryl and I it's not about the fruit, it's about memories.

I took these pictures with my phone
A snake up at the pond where I walk. 25 or 30 inches long.
Checked Connecticut snakes, Wikipedia. Didn't find a likeness there in the few pictures they had.

Would anybody know what kind of snake this is?

Gee, do you think four pictures is enough? ::facepalm:: ----- I think I deleted 4, good thing.

Actually, it was a pretty cool snake.
I walked with it taking pictures for about 20 feet, sometimes almost right above it and it wasn't alarmed or aggressive at all.

Doesn't have the head of a poisonous snake. But it has pretty markings. Cool pics FRJ. ::tu:: ::nod::

David - that looks like a harvest to remember. Great idea for getting the grand kids over for some fun.

Joe - that looks like a Northern Water Snake to me. I am not certain enough about that to put my hand close to its mouth, though!

Thanks doglegg, would a poisonous snake have a larger head ?

Thanks Mel, I did keep an eye on it. I'm glad it didn't get fussy, not knowing what it was. ::nod::
