That's quite an assortment of cuttin' instruments, complete with a good lookin' steel and big ol' fishin' lure! Do you catch some fish big enough to use the them big cleavers?

Found this NOS Buck 401 Kalinga in a pawnshop yesterday - quick and poor quality snapshot. OH

Some great Buck finds lately around here -- that one's a real looker, OH. Micarta handles or just grained wood? Seems I'd have to head north to find some of these cherry Bucks huh?

I was pleased to see it (and surprised) - it has Micarta handles, which indicate earlier production (not sure exactly when). OH

I don't know yet, the handle is chunky, not nearly as svelte as the 100 series I like for gutting/skinning/butchering. I might take a hair one day and use it - it's unused, but both handle and brass have minor scratching. QS, the sheath is mint, just some verdigris to clean off the brass rivets. I'm guessing this knife is late 70's. OH

Scott, keep those Old Hickory's for the kitchen - we've been using ours for nearly 40 years - great kitchen knives. OH

Rode 2 1/2 hours for a "knife" show to find it was a gun show with only a few knives but I did give in to purchase this Damascus blade buffalo handled fixed with fancy file worked back and a nicely made sheath with alligator inlays from a maker that goes by Murphy from Wisconsin. He forges the Damascus himself. ____Dave

Beautiful looking little fixed blade Dave. What is the OAL on her? Kinda looks like a patch knife. Any other info on Murphy from Wisconsin? Always interested in any Wisconsin makers...

Thanks guys. Yeah Jerry, we took a shot and it didn't turn meet our expectations but you can't win-em-all. Mike, the knife is just under 9 inches so it's perfect for field dressing white tails. Murphy is his last name but that's what everyone calls him. I forget his first name and it's written in my checkbook that I forgot in my friends car that I rode down ti the show with. He lives in the area around Eau Claire and does shows but hasn't printed any cards yet so the only way I know to find him is a local show. Interesting guy to talk to and get to know. The guy running the show, Gary I believe his name in is a very friendly and sounds like a well liked show organizer, even if it doesn't always go as he wanted or expected. He sure filled up the tables fast with gun dealers when the knife people idea vanished.____Dave
