I took the pics from the right to the left. The last pic is the left side of the case, the pic before is the middle of the same case and the pic before it is the right side.
It doesn't make sense now, but at the time it was the easiest & fastest way to take the pics and try to be sure I didn't miss any displays.
I took the pics in a hurry. As I recall my wife needed a bathroom break and I was on my way back to our table when I took the pictures.

I am glad ya'll are enjoying the pics.
It is really eye popping in person.

In April, 2001, I set up my Robeson display in Eugene.

Mr. Holbrook had a very nice display set up, but it wasn't any where near that extensive. I think he must have set up an abbreviated display.

I was impressed back then and I'm certainly impressed with that photo array of his collection.

Dennis Ellingson showed me a portion of his collection and it was very impressive as well.

Both Ed Holbrooke and Dennis were very nice to me when we were out there. They are good people.

Bought this one today:an LF&C Official Scout knife in very good condition EXCEPT;the back spring for the master blade and punch is missing.Hopefully I can repair it or farm it out to someone who can.First time I've paid more than a couple dollars for a broken knife(I gave $25 for it)but it was unusual enough in my opinion to warrant it.
Blade seems pretty full(some scratches on the back)and the etch is in good shape;has milled liners(unusual for a scout/utility pattern)and the scales(which I originally thought to be composition)are the darkest brown bone I've ever seen.Enjoy.

Great knife knife7knut, I can see why you would buy it. Your second picture is especially nice. Just a nice photograph.
What a nice shield and it really shows off the bone scales.

The catalog I have lists the handle material on these as Stag.

All the ones I have seen are that hard rubber L.F. & C. is well known for using on their pocket knives.

Are you sure it is bone? Some of the hard rubber is a brownish color instead of black, so it can deceive you if you don`t look close

Very nice old scout, well worth the money

K7K if you start having second thoughts about that purchase, I'll gladly give you your money back for it. The etch on that spear blade is worth more than that to me.
I'll keep an eye out for a parts knife for you.

You are right Dimitri;it is stag! I took a second look under a 10x loupe and the grooving is natural and not machine induced.I have never seen stag that color before.I knew it wasn't hard rubber as it passed the rub and smell test.Thanks for the input on that.

Phil;you just might wind up with it.I'm looking through my Western stuff to see if I can find a back spring blank that can be modified to fit.

Very nice knife with some beautiful handles. Like it a lot That old jigged bone is as nice as any stag, no back seat for that baby!

here is a unusual one I picked up this weekend.
The only marking is on the main tang "made in Germany"
