Bro. Phillp, at the ranges I shoot deer here, the ol 35 Remington Corelockts puts a hurt and a half on deer. Less recoil than a 30-30 and they hit hard. Usually if you aim in the boiler room they leave a nice big hole in and a nice big hole out with lots of tissue on the ground. But since the velocity is pretty moderate, you can eat right up to the hole.treefarmer wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 3:43 am Great rifles, Bro. Wade! Don't know anything about the .35 Remington round other than when compared to a 30/30 it's the big one. Ought to be able to knock a hole in them big ol' Kentucky deer.Looking forward to seeing the results.
That wife of yours is definitely a keeper!![]()

Wade, what you said concerning punching a deer through and through, "big hole in, big hole out", makes a lot of sense. I've got a collection of bullets I have recovered from deer. That means one hole in and nothing coming out, they're just as dead but a whole lot easier to track if they run and are leaking from an exit wound.Colonel26 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 4:07 amBro. And I agree, she’s a keeper for sure. "Far beyond rubies”.
As one feller said, dead is dead! And those high shoulder shots do put em down right now. But a 35 caliber hole in and out of the low lung/high heart area…they don’t go far and are easy to track.treefarmer wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 8:03 pmWade, what you said concerning punching a deer through and through, "big hole in, big hole out", makes a lot of sense. And I agree, she’s a keeper for sure. "Far beyond rubies”.I used to pride myself in having them drop right in their tracks from a high shoulder shot but not being as steady as I once was, seems like the more traditional lung shot is more comfortable to me now.

I stocked up after the Obama fiasco when I was getting 500 rds. for $35 which was a deal. Not long before the purge it was around a buck a box.fergusontd wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:32 pmA local gunshop wanted to sell me 300 rounds of .22 CCI Mini mags for $60! Get real! ftd
Ferg! Get out your calculator. That's only $10 a box of 50. Adjusted for inflation, that's not a bad price.Samb wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:41 pmI stocked up after the Obama fiasco when I was getting 500 rds. for $35 which was a deal. It doesn't do much for rabbit hunting.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 4:50 pm Speaking of the current ammo shortage and outrageous prices, I've put itarget pro (or similar) www.itargetpro.com on my Christmas list this year. I don’t have one, and I’ve never plaid around with one. But I’ve looked at them. I think they’d bee a hoot and a half. If Santa Clause brings it to you, do a review. I’d love to know if it’s a cool as it looks.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 4:50 pm Speaking of the current ammo shortage and outrageous prices, I've put itarget pro (or similar) www.itargetpro.com on my Christmas list this year. To keep us on track, we always killed hogs with a .22 single shot rifle.
