I've used the Bean boots for years and buy a few items from them all along. Last year in one of the mail order catalogues, there was a nice looking pocket knife. So I called and asked the question, they answered, "I'm sorry it was made over there".

While I was browsing in Beans I noticed only very limited USA knives Buck and Leatherman , no made in USE hunting gear except for Johnsons wool pant,there LL Bean fly rods are made overseas and ARE junk poor Leon must be rolling over in his grave SOoooo much for buying local ::huff::They still warrenty every thing like the LL Bean multi-tool made by Gerber overseas,the are going to go broke

Thanks fellers. I kinda thought that. I've worn their jeans, an old canvas coat and a pair of felt lined rubber and leather boots. That was back in the day.

I believe some of the older L.L.Bean branded pocket knives are USA Schrades. See them on ebay, but not often.

I picket up the two fixed, A newer Colt with nice stag (probably China) and a Western G46 yesterday along with another 1950's High Standard 10 shot Dura-Matic yesterday for more than I should have paid, and the two folders today, a Catt. bone jack and a celluloid half whittler Valley Forge for near nothing. The Western is full blades and very little use. I have two ratty ones but this one is the nicest I've ever seen. ____Dave

Found at an antique mall while looking for something else. Having seen some of these pictured by members and liking the appearance well it had to come home. This is a stout knife. Sorry about the crappy cell pics, my camera and I are separated at the moment.

Nice bunch, Dave, especially the Cattaraugus jack. Does it still walk and talk?

Thanks Steve and yes Phil, it walks and talks, the blades seem right for the knife, fit very well and are pretty full. There isn't any cracks in the pocket worn scales and it has nice steel liners. The pattern number is only partially visible on the back of the master blade but what I can see of it, isn't making sense to me. I can only see the bottom half of the numbers and they look like 21403 which wouldn't be correct. Looks like I have some research to do on this one. It's a nice serious looking jack with no frills or problems and will be a great carry knife. I only paid $20 for it (and $10 for the Valley Forge) so even if the pattern number shows something has been altered, I'll enjoy the knife and the trail it leads me on to figure it out. If the blade came out of a different knife, someone did an awfully good job of it.____Dave

I found this in my mailbox. Since I couldn't go to the Great Lakes Show this year I decided to treat myself to a knife from "My Historic Knives" store on AAPK and bought this Remington Trapper. It came way earlier than I expected it and is all I hoped it would be._____Dave

Wonderful looking vintage trapper Dave! That mellow yellow honey cinammon brown handle is just absolutely gorgeous! And that main blade profile is a real bonus. Lloyd
