All About Pocket Knives

Sometimes I have more fun with knives that need to be tinkered with to bring them back to looking good, or at least working good than I do with a knife that I just enter into my inventory and store away in a safe. Several of the ones I just got needed the tips reground to take away chips or broken tips. I'm lucky to live in an area where there aren't many collectors and a knife is considered a tool and an old tool has little value. It's a tough place to sell a knife for more than $2. ___Dave

Knice haul Philip!!!

Good morning guys. Looks like you all had some pretty good luck. Lots of nice knives there. I had a pretty good week last week. I picked up a 1948 Model 37 Ithaca from a guy at work. It doesn't have any of the bluing left but it is still in very good working condition. I got it for what I thought was a decent price at $75. I also got a chance to stop by the local flea market on Saturday. I picked up a 1971 Case 1199 SH R Whaler in mint condition for $35 and a 1978 Case Muskrat that was a little rough but still had the factory edge for $30. With a little elbow grease it shined right up. Ya'll have a good one and I hope the luck continues.

$75? Wow, we saw a 1959 Model 37 yesterday on our ramblin' around. It looked mint, the owner said 98%, $495. I love the old Ithaca 37 pump guns! Regret tradin' 'em off .

I was glad to get it. My wife looked it over, she likes to shoot too. I told her it was an old gun, made in 1948, and she was quick to let me know that it is only seven years older than I am. LOL!!

Now you're talking my language! The Ithaca 37 is my favorite shotgun! I need a 12 gage and I'll have a whole set of the field grades from '48. I have a set from '52, and almost a whole set from '53. My favorites though are my pre war 16, 1949 12 gauge solid rib with a 30 inch modified barrel, and my ultra featherlight English stock.

Colonel those are nice. I've got three 12 Ga. and one 20 Ga. Field Grade. The 1948 is an improved cylinder. I have a 1971 with a 30" full choke chambered for 3" magnum. The other 12 Ga. is a 28" modified. The 20 Ga. is also a 28" modified choke. You have an impressive collection. Thanks for sharing them.

A Montgomery Wards brand I haven't seen in years. You can tell by the patented bifurcated tang it was made by Western. Love it.

Found a pair of knives with propose today first for my nephew a Moose handled Colonial fixed blade for his first Moose hunt in October..Second a Buck riggers knife rough but good for my apprentice..

A Schrade Walden Stainless with some well used blades.
A Cattaraugus Pen knife with a ding in the main blade.
An M. Klein "rope" knife made in USA.
$30 for the lot.

Have the Catt blades sharp. The two secondary blades on the Schrade. The main blade on the Schrade still needs work. As does the Klein blade.

so I went to an estate sale and found this stuff: A CaseXX survival knife, a Kinfolks (it was in the sheath with the Knapp hunting saw, an Estwing hatchet and a Manhattan axe. Alotta off road miles on most of it. The bottom is a fishing combo tool that I've never seen before. no marks that I can find, anybody recognize it?

These Victorinox "Day Packers" were on close out at Menards for $6 and Mike (313Mike) sent one to me -- It's in the Bomb thread. Thanks again Mike.

So I start checking the local Menards but the dozen or so they had were still full price, $24.xx. Until yesterday. My buddy was headed down to Menards to get a wheelbarrow tire so I asked him to check. I get the phone call, they are marked down to $6.99 and they have 7 left. Quick like a bunny, I hop in the truck and scoot on down there. Oops! Apparently I'm not the only one who likes 'em a lot. Now there are only three or should I say there were only three.

The double sized Baby Ruth is my reward for being such a smart shopper.
