All About Pocket Knives

Amazing SAK's!! Dan, you have a wonderful collection. Thought I would post one I picked up yesterday for 5 bucks. I thought it was cool because it had Elinox instead of Victorinix or Wenger that I'm used to seeing. I looked it up and believe the stamp is from 1973 to 1977 Econoline. Any more info on the knife is appreciated. It's really clean and nice to be that old. Glad to have it. Thanks for looking.

I picked this one up a while back at our local flea market. From what I can find on the internet about it, it is called the Victorinox Soldier and was issued to the Swiss Army troops from 1961-2008. The hollow end rivet for lanyard use was discontinued in 1992. Bottle opener has the bevel on the inside edge which was pre 1993. The features seem to indicate that this is a variant 3 (1977-1987), and in fact has the number 85 stamped on the pile side of the master spear blade, to indicate that year of mfg. Can any of you SAK experts confirm any of this?

Friends I have a Victorinox Vagabond knife with sterling silver scales. I would like to know the article number of this knife and the year it was made. Are there any knowledgeable guys here? Can someone help?

Have a Handyman in white plus scales on the way to complete the collection. I enjoy carrying the ranger the most or at least find it the most useful tool set for me. I also really like the Cybertool L and with the clip it isn’t that bad to carry.

For the fire ant tinder which comes apart too quickly if you carry it around in the corkscrew, i bought some clear non-adhesive shrink tube 8mm and it works perfectly.

This one is used, and the owner said he thought he bought it in the late 1980's or early 90's. It is a Victorinox Red Alox Farmer pattern, with the Cross with no shield or surround. I wanted to start adding some of the earlier shield variations to my group. The handles to have some wear, but blades show little use and are tight, no wobble with great snap. The tang stamp has "VICTORINOX" over "SWITZERLAND" over "STAINLESS" over "ROSTFREI". I think from what I found info I read, the Cross without a surround or shield stopped around 1998. But, I know very little on the SAKS.

Victorinox SAK "Tinker" (1986-92). Carried this one a lot while in the USAF (retired in '99 with 20+). Actually skinned a black bear with it in western Washington back in '95. It's been a good one (and still is!)

That rifle looks like a Model 1895 Winchester. What caliber?

.405 WCF, mfg ca 1904. It had been reblued, rebarrelled, and restocked before I got it, but s/n showed it was a genuine .405, which made it the perfect shooter/user. It was a real joy toting it on a hunt with open sights and my own hand loads (albeit a little on the heavy side for a mountain rifle!)

First Swiss Army knife for me. I know it’s 1957-1973. Tried a search here but came up empty. Anyone know the name of this model?
Great walk and talk, no wobble in either blade. Was poorly sharpened in its life but I’ve fixed that. Estate sale find for $6.

My son found this one in a local park. It had obviously been there a while and took a bit of cleanup to get it usable again, but for a basic blade, it's good to go now. Great snap and keeps a really sharp edge!

Yesterday morning, this multi-tool, lobster or gentlemen’s, pattern or style of pocket knife, arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, it did get added to my general, "foreign born", pocket knife accumulation. It is a VICTORINOX, one blade, five tools (a file with a screwdriver tip, scissors, tweezers, and a toothpick), 2 1/4" closed (not including the loop or ring), one tang stamp, multi-tool, lobster or gentlemen’s, pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "VICTORINOX (over) SWITZERLAND (over) STAINLESS (over) ROSTFREI" The main blade does have a WEAK half stop. The main blade does have a GOOD opening snap. The main blade does have a GOOD closing snap. The tools ALL open, close, and function properly, without problems. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD condition. This pocket knife did NOT need any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.
