Thanx Scott I've been repairing themto donate to the Boy scouts.Usually I can't save the skin but they turn out to be very useable knives.on the rusted KampKing I was able to save the skin on the shell.I thought they came out well

Picked up a couple of KC black angus soddys and a old ulster dressed up in wood. The old ulsters got a little blade loss and snaps like a gater.

So I went back to the estate sale and ended up with these. They have a lot of off road miles on them but I like them anyway. They are top to bottom or left to right (I don't know how it loaded): Hammer Brand, Western, Miller Bros.,Barnett tool co., Krusius Bros., and a Hammer Brand/Imperial. The last one is the mystery, anybody recognize it? It has something stamped on the main blade that I don't recognize and 44 stamped into two of the tools. Thanks for your time.

I agree with TF! Those are my kind of knives! I love old HOK's.

Not referring to this knife but 'in general': with some older knives, the snap is excessively snappy, you can feel the excess tension being placed on the spring as you open the blade. When you are closing it the over-stretched spring slams the blade closed. It is not a pleasant snap and i think it is not how the knife was made. I think these knives have had the blade replaced and the relative tang/spring dimensions or geometry is just slightly off.
I'm sure everyone here has experienced this. I have wanted to ask about this so i am taking the opportunity here. Anyone else care to comment on this 'too snappy' topic ?

I don't think that "too snappy" knives always has to mean they have been messed with. I think in most cases, it is the simply the way they made them. I know many of us have said "they don't make them like they used to". I think there is truth to that. I find the the quality of steel in older knives is not really something makers have been able to reproduce in more recent knives. There are some brands where the tangs and springs are worn to nothing, and others that are as crisp and square as the day they were sold.

Also, I find that many older blades and springs are built thicker than more recent knives. Maybe this is a way to save on costs.

It is an interesting topic, and maybe one for a separate thread.

Another fine day at the antique show. All for under $200 and listed left to right. Western USA S693 A delrin, Bridge Cut. Co St. Lewis lobster with great snap and perfect presentation pearl, Case XX Barlow both blades with half stop and great snap, Jim Dandy cattle knife, Henry Sears celuloid whittler, Parker Easy Lock (has the reverse tab in the handle to unlock the blade, really neat knife I've never seen before), Simmons Keen Kutter jack. Nice knife but someone has carelessly cleaned it and left waves in the blades, Olsen Mi. fixed with sheath, and H. Boker USN with Bakelite pummel. The Bridge itself absolutely made my day and I picked that up for $10. ____Dave

I must be drinkin' the wrong water ! I'd be happy to find that many knives in a year. Dave you and Berryb have picked up a bunch of nice ones, congratulations .

Not exactly knives but rather knife related. Picked these up yesterday. Three large Sherlocks and thirteen small Sherlocks. Made by(for)Cutco as knife rests for table cutlery.Not sure of the era but would guess 1950's at the latest.The larger ones I assume were designed for carving knives and forks that didn't have their own rest built into them.
Tried researching it(Cato found it first)and found one small one for sale on e-Bay for $59.95! A bit much I think. I paid $48 for all of them.

I bought a knife book on sale ,,,, pretty good resource but a bit outdated, came with a knife

NICE!!!! Unusual to see an Italian without a rear bolster and brass front ones.Is there a maker's stamp on it? Looks 50's.

The knife is unmarked , yes unusual and not sure how old it is but safe to say its from Frosolone.

Quite possibly. I have a huge folding knife with horn handles and brass front bolster marked Frosolone.I'll have to dig it out and post a pic.

Picked up 3 knives at a flea market last weekend. First a "H BOKER & CO'S" over "IMPROVED" over "CUTLERY" canoe with a tipped pen blade. Next a well used Schrade 18 OT and finally a Swedish made Mora fixed blade. Total cost for the 3 of $17.00.

I founds these 2 at Alison's Antiques in Pensacola. No issues with TSA bringing them back in my checked luggage. Camillus "paratrooper's" knife and a Colonial TL-29. Every time I see a Colonial I think about Bonfire Bob, he was a good guy.
