Nice finds Scott and David I hit garage sales this fine AM and gut a Smiths tri-hone and a Made in USA slide knife all for five bucks

I went to a flea market this morning and brought back this nice whittler. I paid $5 for it.
Tip of the coping blade is dinged up a bit and exposed blades took on some rust. Missing a cover pin.
Other than that it's in fine shape. 3 7/8".
No pattern number.

I wonder how it would look with mottled white bone covers?

Wow, a Schrade-Walden 804 whittler with saber grind for $5 !
This could be Deal of the Year.

Good deal and nice knife. I've never seen that little "V" at the end of the master blade before. I have a few of those and I'm going to have to pull them out to see if that is in mine too. I love the blades on those knives and yours even still has the etch, Nice. ___Dave

Dave, I have a Schrade Cut. Co. with that "V" accommodation in the wedge. 3 5/8"

I dug mine out. I have a black one with a saber ground blade with the notch, a brown one with a flat grind without the notch and a Craftsman stamped black flat ground one without the notch. the first two are stamped Schrade Walden and the Craftsman is obviously made for them by Schrade So , the saber ground have the notch and the flat ground ones don't.___Dave

Those are some prime knives there fellers great finds. I got bombed with this one.

I suppose I'd feel different if my Grandpaw John hadn't sharpened the heck out of his Camillus whittler. instead of /\ it's more blunt. I really tend towards flat grind if truth be told.

Your Schrade Walden is far better looking than mine. I wish I had those covers. I plan on getting my covers replaced.
No pattern number on mine. I wonder if it's a 804? It sure looks like yours. How long is your knife?

Jerry this thang is a China buck 371, I reckon you could call it a barhead stockman razor sharp out the box pretty fair F & F. all stainless construction .

What are the handles, some kind of Micarta or some such? I wonder what made them decide to leave off the cap bolster. I've never seen a stockman style knife with only one bolster. Hmmm

Edit: Looked it up. Handles are G-10.

I thought maybe g-10 but wasn't sure( thx for the info) they grip pretty good. Edge kinda sharp, but what the het you can't beat the price. First bare head stockman I ever saw.

Found these little gems today.....

The little one is G. Schrade ball pull. Purty slick little gizmo.....blade whips out when you pull the ball. Had never seen one before...

From what I can tell from the picture, the ball pull looks like it's in very good condition too. Good find, Scott.
