I never knew much different until I started traveling in my 20s - probably never saw a true mountain until that time .. it was 10 years or so ago when I was transferred for work that we decided to try living in a heavily wooded area but in truth we are still only 30 minutes from saltwater ...

Our dogs like to sit on a living room window seat and bark at chipmunks feeding about 4 feet away under a bird feeder, and when they see one, want to go out to chase them. About a year ago Molly, our Springer/Bluehealer was having a fit barking so I let her go out to chase what she was barking at, which I assumed was a chipmunk. I should have checked, but opened the door to have a large black bear that was trying to steel our feeder, go sailing past the door. Molly flew out the door right on the bear's tail. The bear made a new path through the brush on the edge of the yard and Molly stopped chasing when they got to the woods edge where she knows she isn't allowed to cross on her own. Bears really don't like dogs, even little ones. Usually I check before I let the dogs out because of skunks, but I wasn't expecting something bigger. ____Dave

Saw a video yesterday of two male Black Bears sparring on a New Jersey lawn. Had to be a female near by, I'd think.

I saw that Charlie ... personally I think the bears were playing with each other ...

Somebody thought the bear in our yard was a last years cub which means the mother may not be far.. he seemed rather large to me for a year old... no proof of either but I’m hoping this isn’t a frequent appearance ..

Cool turkey spa you have BH. Also with all that fern you must have some ginseng growing in there too?

Doglegg a young feller from across the road has found some from time to time. Use to get a few morels back there but don't hunt those things much anymore. There quite a few ferns especially down where the spring branch is I just don't get down that far anymore. The ones pictured are right beside a little road I try to keep mowed.

Checked my feeder camera this morning & set out a couple of raccoon traps ( rascals just won't quit eating my deer corn ) ________there is a rabbit under the bush close to the feeder in picture #1_____ and, notice the squirrel & rabbit,behind the young buck in the last photo

We have a lot of urban ‘coons here. My downstairs neighbour put out a pile of pizza boxes to get picked up in the morning a couple of days ago. I went out to get the cat, heard rustling in the boxes and the next thing I know, out strolls a big ‘coon!
The cat was under the truck. He and the local bandits seem to have no problem with each other. I’ll try to get a pic of one

Been a while since I've posted pics from a mission....Today there was 8 boys and another dad. Five of the boys were mission

Scott, 5 newbies that are not any more. Now they are hatchet wielding out doors men. Congrats on another successful mission. I bet the other adult enjoyed it as well. Thank you for the pics.

Scott, I can’t remember - do you ever have girls on your missions? I would have been all over that when I was a kid. Heck, I would now!
I do realize that at that age, girls are still kind of icky, as far as the boys are concerned.

I have had nieces in the past, but in today's world of accusations and money hungry.....yeah, no can do anymore....
