Is there a thread or post that explains hot to make a 'light box' for taking knife pictures indoor ?
What type of light bulb gives the correct spectrum for picture taking ?

The best article that I've ever read on the subject Roland is from Mark Zalesky:
http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/knifeworld/photoarticle.pdf If you follow his directions completely, you can produce some very fine pictures.

Thanks Tom. I will check it out. I take pics with camera directly overhead of knife and then the camera blocks some of the overhead light. I'm sure there must be other ways to get pics taken from above and still get light, no shadow.

I tilt the knife towards me a little using a toothpick or small piece of stick and then you don't have to be right overhead to get the straight on view and it helps keep you from shadowing your subject. For outside and places your light box won't go especially.
Leaves, leaves, everywhere leaves, now it's the maple's turn.

John that is a very nicely composed shot. Rich coloring. [ For just a second I thought you had displayed the knives among heads of broccoli.

Hadn't realized at the time of taking this pic that a lady bug stopped by to inspect the blade.

Thank you kindly Scott.
Thanks John, I always enjoy seeing your pics here and the outdoor settings.
Thanks I Man, I should find some new backdrops for my pics though. I've been overusing the wood picnic table and scattered leaf theme a bit.

With the wind blowing the snow around, it is a good day to stay inside and play with pocketknives.

Woodwalker, first shot huh? Wow, great one. I like the light bleed through around the edges of the leaves that puts pink hues on the back drop paper or whatever it is. Sweet shot, good color and attention getter. What else ya got?

Hey thanks ivoryman! Found a nice bradford pear tree at work on my lunch time walk. Picked a few leaves as I thought it matched the cranberry bone pretty good. Put the leaves on a pink piece of colored paper at work and set the sowbelly on top. Had a coworker take the shot with an iPhone and sent it to my phone, a Samsung s5 which I left at home. Got home from work and put it on the site. Don't have anymore at the moment. Just thought it looked fairly good for a rookie. Glad you like it. I love the knife. It's my main edc.

Ivoryman: Never would have thought to use coal and ashes as a setting. But it really works for your shot especially because of the wide view you provide. Well done, sir.
