"Bone stag" is just bone that is jigged and dyed to look much like stag. I like the pattern on yours - a bit more random and unique than some other jigging patterns.
I bought some slabs from Bear & Son that look so much like stag that it is hard to tell the difference until you turn it over (these are just slabs, not yet put on a knife).
Real Sambar stag is getting more expensive all of the time, so this is a great alternative.

Does any other manufacturer use this for scales??

313 Mike wrote: Tue Dec 27, 2022 4:24 pm Queen used to use what they called carved amber bone stag.
Queen used two different types of "Bone Stag," i.e., bone that was jigged to resemble stag.

This Bone Stag is, IMHO, Queen's attempt to copy Case's 6.5 Bone Stag (IMO Case did a better job):

This is Queen's famous Amber Carved Bone Stag (ACSB), which is one of their signature handle covers (along with Winterbottom Bone):

Beautiful colors and lighting, you set it up great. And that beauty looks about like stag too. About the best approximation of antler I've ever seen. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice.

That's beautiful stuff too. Great color and jigging. They sure did those bones right. Reminds me of my favorite Moki bone here for comparison. Mmmmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnn. ::tu:: ::tu::

Oh, hey...thanks for reminding me, I have one of those too! The bone on the Moki Kronos is remarkably similar to the Queen ACSB. I wonder if they are related (like, did Queen produce that Amber Bone Stag for Moki, perhaps?) ::hmm::

In using knives, if they are going to be jigged, I always prefer Winterbottom. You have a very nice example.

Thank you very much QS, it definitely is some great stuff I gotta agree. This is the earlier style of Winterbottom jigging used by Queen.

Beautiful knives Clark23, keep 'em coming.

Love the W. Bingham Co. Cleveland bones and the jigging on the spear here so thought I would post. Camillus Sword Brand clip is no slouch either though.
