A few more, a stag Joseph Rodgers jack, one of these days I have to take better pics of it, a Wostenholm hawkbill in stag an a George Furness Barlow. The English cutlery companies used fantastic stag.

Some wonderful showings on the past few pages by btrwtr, Waukonda, JohnR, Miller Bros., and others.
Here is a fairly uncommon model from Wostenholm. What makes it a bit unique is that it is a large lock-back (main blade only) with a secondary non-locking smaller blade. Most of the old large-sized Sheffield lock-back folders found are single blade types.
The main blade shows the classic IXL stamp, and features a long pull. The handle length is 5-1/4 inches.
Nice steel pinched bolsters, a bail, and lovely reddish stag on this old fellow.

Yes, time and persistence is required more than anything to put together a large collection of rare old knives.

Thanks for the nice comments on the Challenge Bowie, it is hefty.

Anyone else here have a whittler? I have these two, one little nicer than the other. Could anyone give me date which these were made, I have a date in my mind but unsure if they are as old as I am thinking. Slanted nickel silver bolsters, jigged delrin handles, brass liners.

Wostenholm offered a few slant bolster models with different blade configurations from the 1950s through the 1970s.
Enclosed are two slant bolster whittler examples with different blade types. The top model is a cattle type with a punch and spey blade.
Also shown is a catalog illustration (matching the bottom knife shown).

What is the blade with the hole in it used for?

That is the handle to the secateurs, the slot is used to hold the handle closed.
