Nice picture Dan!

Here is a question; Why are the Victorinox Swiss Army Alox so popular?

I have a buddy with a retail cutlery shop and he says they are by far the best seller? I guess I am old school and have always mainly stuck with the standard red scale version. When I get an Alox, some knife buddy always wants to trade for it

Looks like a nice fat one.
A bud in high school killed one on Dan's Mountain, tanned the skin and made a belt.

Went on a walk to check some fences today. Packed light, and didn't really carry fencing tools (given I used an old school pack from my early community college years, which is light, but can't carry much). I had a fixed blade, a Trapper, and a Leatherman in my pack, as well as a hawkbill in my shorts pocket.
Also had a small Schrade Victorinox Camper clone.
Opened a package with it. The ASP Advocate I bought as I liked its locking serrated blade (which is rare on a small SAK-type knife), the two Kleins I bought as they were on sale for $10 each (they came from several different sellers on Amazon, and I still have 3 more coming); and figured they'd be good gift knives.
Real SAKs are much better. While a decent knife, the saw is really bad.
Used my Stanley SL-10 Trapper by Camillus to cut some large vines growing through a fence in the lower field. The aggressive scalloped edge on the spey blade ate it like hot butter.
I hate to use this knife as they're not exactly common. On the other hand, this is the perfect layout of a Trapper for me. I want to find one that has been used and carried, but am having a hard time finding any, let alone for the price I paid ($15, from the AAPK store here). This one had been unused, but stored poorly, leading to some spotting on the (carbon steel, as typically with Camillus) backsprings.
Had to mark some loose posts to be able to quickly locate them when I replace them later on in the month. My timber scribe would've been great, but my Klein Tools 40004 did the job just fine.
Used my Leatherman Bond's pliers to fix a part of a fence that had been damaged by cows on a neighbor's property, using a scrap of brace wire I'd tied onto the fence during a previous repair. They never fix their own fences, especially line fences. They have about 30 cows (mostly Jerseys)on enough acreage for 10, and they have been reaching over into the lower field, and have made a mess of the fence there. Those individuals are a pain in the rear to deal with as well. Worst of all, it's my father and a woman with multiple issues (and from out of the area) he married ten years ago.
I also used my First Tactical Sidewinder Safety Knife to cut some brush. Unfortunately, I hit a rock that was hidden; and chipped the tip. Luckily, AUS-8 isn't that hard to work with. And it's a $30 knife. Not exactly pricey to replace.

Thanks for the compliments! As for Alox, its popularity is due at least in part to looks. The 93mm models have more substantial blades and tools than their 91mm cousins. And the 58mm models and Bantam are much slimmer than their Cellidor equivalents.
I'd be happy to consider any Alox you might acquire!

If it makes you feel any better, knives are a lot more useful than the steam whistles I tend to get sucked into buying. And a nice catch on your part
