What a pleasure going back through these pages.

It ended up being a Utica, my first Utica knife. Very good quality the bone is amazing and flawless. I'm going to go home at lunch and put a few drops of mineral oil in the pivots and try and free it up some.

That's a great looking knife that is screaming for oil.
Love that heavy bar shield.

PD the master looks to be mostly full.Utica made some fine knives.

Trying to work some snap into the main blade, a big chunk of organic material fell out of the well, hopefully it comes back it was seized up for decades probably. Spay blade is nice.

I thought the shield looked Utica. I haven’t been into my knives a lot lately.That is a good example PD, not much blade loss.

Very nice. I like UTICA. They were/are located on Noyes Street in Utica, New York. Had I known that in 1988, I would probably be a Utica collector instead of Robeson.

To my knowledge and much to Lyle’s disappointment, Robeson never made a Farmers Jack.

But, there are patterns they did make of which I’m only aware of one extant example, such as a five inch pinch bolstered sleeve board Anglo-Saxon whittler and an almost four inch Gunboat. Same man owns both.

Wlf, if you do pull out your Utica FJs could you send me a picture of the top down with the blade closed? I'm curious to see how rounded the heel and toe of your main blades tang is? I have been working out tons and tons and tons of grime from mine but I'm still having trouble activating the spring, I have hope because it does seem to lock up at 90% of the way. The spay blade has a squared off tang for a full and half stop, that blade has trap-like snap.

Spey half stop is typical, but unusual for the pruning blade. I don’t know what you can glean from that picture, but I’ll try. Much is contingent for that comparison.

This is the old Utica stamp. I haven't got the scan you want yet PD.

These are either Utica stamped or I believe Utica made. I think without looking among them are a Crown Cut Co., a Cutsure, and a Western States.

This is a Cutsure K&B Hardware Cincinnati O.It has the U on the reverse of the main.

It is a great to see your Farmers Jack collection Lyle. Is there a possibility of a second run from GEC down the road? A selection in stag would get my heart rate racing.

All beauties Lyle ... great to see all those Utica related knives and no doubt easy to see the similarities among them!!

Lyle, missed you and Jan at the Rendezvous this year and missed seeing your amazing collection of Farmers Jacks also, Charlie gave Donna a couple I will have to take pictures of and add to this thread.

I lucked into another Schrade Walden last weekend, was a just listed Buy It Now for a very low price, knife has seen little use and can still see original Schrade grind marks, looks like it sat in someones garage or shed and rusted. Has factory spinner damage to the bone at the center pin, guess even the old knives weren't perfect.

Thank you Lloyd, according to my wife I spend way too much time looking for knives but luckily she appreciates a good knife also especially a farmers jack, she has several of her own.

Getting close, wife and I have been trying to put together a collection of all the Queen made Farmers Jacks and I think I only have the MOP to go, added the brown bone this week.

Wow John - what a lineup Lyle will love those ... or maybe his blood pressure will go up - in the words of Lyle - “ I grin”

Good luck finding the MOP FJ to complete the collection!!!
