All About Pocket Knives

Hi thawk, I will have two of those at the 2007 price.
Do you know why my two 858OTs do not have the + stamped on the blade.
I have sold 858OT knives with the + over the years. Ken

The original Schrade 858OT was carbon steel, then they offered them with stainless steel blades. hence the SCHRADE+. The first ones came out in 1978, were offered with and without the sheath.

They ran these knives until 1986, and not sure when they switched to the stainless steel blades.


This one came from a display case out of an abandoned Gulf Service Station in Texas, along with a bunch of 8OT, 34OT, and 61OT knives that were all still in the boxes. It was the only 858OT of the bunch and was covered with hardened original factory lubrication that was green in color. I took it and cleaned it with hot soapy water and dried it with a hair dryer.

HERE IS A 153 SCHRADE WALDEN I'VE GOTTEN MY HANDS ON WITH SOME HELP FROM A GOOD FREIND.

Nice find James .You don't see to many with Schrade Walden on them all the later one's have Schrade Uncle Henry on them.

Is that the real deal stag on that (?) Golden Spike (?)? That's a beauty.

I had a good bit of interest in an Uncle Henry Golden Spike early in the 1990s until I found out the handles were "Staglon". Shoulda bought one anyway. They go for $100 and more now. Hindsight...

Hey jerry, good to be aboard! This is a great site. The 153 is staglon. It's a little unique with the schrade walden tang stamp. Not to many around these days.

I just did a "completed listings" search on ebay, and almost all went for less than $50 and some for less than $20. There were a very few limited edition 153s manufactured before the bankruptcy that had real stag. The first ones did not have stainless steel. The last years were all in stainless steel and the blades were significantly thinner as well.

i think this is a stag handle on a 153 but im not sure. would like to see a pic if anyone has a stag 153

I am not a collector of fixed blade knives. However, I belive some of those early Walden stamped 153s were numbered.
The first of the Schrade stamped knives had carbon blades (like my 153UH below)
The Stag handled knives were mainly special orders and some Duck knives.
I donot know if the black handeled knive use stag or not.... Your Walden knife was a good find... Ken

Nice pic ken! I've always been partial to the fixed blade knives. My 127uh and my lb8 are two of my favorite knives though.

Hi James, I have only one knife like the 127UH, it is a "DUCK Son-of-a-gun" with wooden handle.
I have most of the lock-backs - however I do not have a LB8.

Ken those are some great knives. I have a stag d holder also. I post a pic later when the tribe goes to sleep. If you look close it has a red liner in the handle. That wood handle du folder is a knife I would love to have. Really nice

Does your D'holder have a number stamped on the top of the blade? and do you have the bag they came in.
The red insert in the D'holders makes them stand out. I do like the Loveless knives also.
As I said before, I was not a Fixed Blade collecor.
It is only that I have this bad problem - "If it has a Schrade name on it, I have to have it.

Received these Warren Whittlers in the mail today.

Wow, those are some sharp lookin' knives there....forgive my lack of knowledge, but what is the story with the "Warren Whillters"? Are those single blade wood handled knives..? I can't quite read the text on the inside cover of the box...

Those Whittlers are nice, I have a pair.
IIRC they were made for Warren Tool Co. for wood carvers.
