All About Pocket Knives

Appreciate the encouraging words Ivoryman and others.

from my years belonging to a camera club. Do not take outdoor pictures in full sun between 10 am. and 2 pm. as it is at it's harshest. I have heard of a area photographer spraying milk on furniture to dull the sheen for catalogs. They do make a dulling spray but I am not sure it washes off easily from a knife blade. I also knew of photographers that have books in print or their photos in magazines that show early morning dew on flowers or spiders webs. That is Witch Hazel misted on them as water evaporates quickly. Bob

Thanks John! I was tickled to get it. Original factory edge on the pen blade, the clip is dull from use and looking at it with a 10X glass I can still see the factory grind in spots so it may have been lightly sharpened. I love the patina and the tapered to a super thin point on the blades.

Sweet knife Rockmano, good score. love those old Case knives. And Case doesn't make them like that anymore for sure.

You sure have an eye for the sweet bones on those vintage Case knives, Ivoryman. Beautilicious! Thong and bead (ivory?) is a nice touch on the Whaler.

Fall colors are just starting to show here in the midwest and its a great time to snap photos. I took this pic today of the 2 oldies which I carried to work with me. The front jack knife is from Bayonne Knife Co., which from what I understand went out of business in 1910. Other than a slight side to side blade wobble it still has good snap and is pretty solid, pretty amazing to me for a knife at least 107 yrs. old. The pitting on the blade and the pocket worn scales add to the charm of it to me. The knife in the rear is a Robeson Shuredge 622102 sleeveboard half whittler, not sure when it was made.

Your Robeson sleeveboard pen was made from 1928 - 1939 according to my book on Robeson.

Thanks FRJ, I was hoping someone with more knowledge would offer they're help. I was thinking it dated to 30's or 40's but that was just a guess on my part, good info to know.

Since I don't have much of a background to work with.... I like combining my pocket folders with my collection of folding rules....

Great pics of some fine knives fellas. Here's a couple snaps from this afternoon. While overcast skies work well, sometimes I like playing the contrast provided by a little bit of stray sunshine too...

I love those knives in the Yellow Rose series. I love the way the shields look. Some day, some day, it's on the short list until they become unobtainable.
