That's pretty darned nice Scott. What is it with all the knives being available in your area? Is it all those old folks down there dying off and you scooping up the leavings?

I picked this one up today. It needs a bit of quick release and the blades wiped down but it'll do. I like these federal shields on 72's.

Cuz, you devil, you. Looks like a great find. Fine looking long line. Blades look good as does the handle. Back spring for the main has plenty of rise so the blade should have good snap. Let me know about that. Congratulations.

Absolutely! Snaps like the proverbial gator. Actually the best of any of the second generations I've had. It's barely been sharpened too. The darn thing is practically new. This ones going to be an edc.

Found this one at a yard sale. Seller said it was a custom his grandfather had ordered from a knife maker in either Wyoming or Montana. Couldn't recall the maker's name, but the knife and sheath are both marked OSO.

I'm not usually one for fixed blades, but I liked the grind and size of it. The blade is about 5 1/2". I plan on toting it when I go hiking or fishing.

That's a beautiful knife Dave Really nice design lines...perfect match between blade and handle, the maker did a really nice job. That will be perfect for hiking. cheers

Buck16 That Custom Mayhill is an exceptional knife. They are hard to find but well worth the pursuit. Great find.

I have spent the last few weeks in New Zealand and it was inevitable I would come back with a few thrift and opp-shop pick-ups.
A Richards Sheffield cheapie, a Klien Tools NY Electrician's Knife with plastic covers - the reverse of the tang is stamped "Japan". An IXL Barlow in very bashed about condition .... all these are ear-marked for a make over.

A nice old German Hand Vice which will see use on my knife work bench and an interesting Leather workers groover with a depth adjustment added to my sheath making tool kit.

Tuesday and today were pretty good knife days. Tuesday I picked up that 8 dot 6488 Case and Western Boulder 652 I posted and today this gem.

A 7 1/2 inch J. Martini Rapala fillet knife and sheath still in the package. Good package too. Notice the price tag, no bar code on it or the package. Daddy says its at least 20 years old. I have no idea, but I think I'll set it up a while longer.

I've been using one of those Rapala filet knives for over 40 years, it was a Christmas gift from a boss man where I worked before moving from central Florida to the Panhandle in 1973. I have fileted many, many bass with it and it also works well on removing silver skin from venison ! Go ahead and tear it out of the package and enjoy it .

Wade, I too have had one for well over 40 years. It's a great knife. Sure does get sharp.

It's very hard to find good old unused knives in Australia or New Zealand .As you would know they cost affair bit of money so they used them all up.
I have looked in a lot of antique and junk shops.All there knives are in bad shape and need of repair.

I love it when the sun shines on me. First Scott "Bombs" me, then I go to a dealers meeting and win $50. Then I go to my knife club and a member shows up with a huge collection (about 500 knives) he just bought and sells them verrrrry reasonably. I picked out 10 knives and spent $375. The dogs head is worth more than that and probably a couple others too. The stag H. Sears trapper is stunning. It's been a good weekend, and the sun is still shinning. The dog's head is a Union Cut., the fixed is a KA-BAR, the dbl end trapper is a H. Sears & Son, the weird notched one is a Boulay and I need to know more about this one, The Bone Med. bones are a Winchester and a Catt. (only one that needs a repair), the EZ opener is a Rem. girl scout with an Eagle shield, the cattle is a Keen Kutter, I thing that's 10. ____Dave

That is a fine haul of knives, Dave. And it is only Saturday!

I like the Rapala knives too. I have four from 4" to 7 1/2". I find myself using the 4" one the most.
