Good morning. We are looking at a couple hot days here over the weekend, with mid 90's tomorrow and muggy just to top it off. When we left the Northern border area yesterday, they had really strong storms behind us as we traveled away and even threw in a tornado warning. We stayed just out of reach for all of it. It's good to be home. Our Belgian Gypsy agrees. Bible study is in a couple hours and then maybe a run to town to look for some specialty tools to help us get the siding job done a little quicker next week. Have a great weekend.______Dave

Good Mornin', Dave and others stopping by the dinner this morning.
We're starting the day with a low of 72°, yesterday we made it to 93° with clear skies, more of the same in the forecast.
Mowed with the tractor for an hour or so yesterday down in the woods then mowed with the zeroturn until 1pm. That nap after dinner was mighty good! About 5, cranked the zeroturn and did most of the south yard, still have a couple of areas to finish this morning.
Several years ago the pharmacist tried to get my Rx's on the same schedule for refilling, somehow that has gotten out of sync and I end up having to go to the store more often. Only plus is the pharmacy is also an outdoor store, guns and fishing tackle.
Might even wash Miss Joy's car today. Living on a dirt road, it's a waste of time trying to keep vehicles clean. Joy used to say it was easier to find her car in the Walmart parking lot because it was dusty. Yesterday marked 10 months since she went to her heavenly home.
Time to wake the mini-dachshund for his morning walk, coffee was good so the day has officially started.

A Good Morning to you diners,
76 right now and we're looking at a high of 92 and a heat index of 107 here in the Missouri Ozarks. Things are gonna get downright dangerous and nasty! We're in a four day heat advisory / warning. Heat indexes climbing up to 112. Wife and I are about to make a quick errand and then hole up indoors until a small break on Wednesday.
Nothing on the agenda except maybe scattered house chores here and there as we wait out this blast furnace. Good time to peruse knives on the computer with all this time on my hands!
Y'all have a great weekend! Be safe, be careful and be alert out there. I took a peek at news and politics and I don't believe we're actually living some of this.

Morning folks, 69 the low mid 80's by afternoon a few showers around but none here as of now.71 with a nice breeze but muggy. The heat will return this coming week. My ac and I have enjoyed the last few days, oh well it is getting close to the dog days of August.
Wampus was back after a day at the spa? Sounds good anyway

Good morning. Church in a few hours and then the plan is to stay inside because of a heat warning in the 90's with 100% humidity. I can see the humidity hanging in the air. It looks exactly like the Canadian smoke did a few weeks ago, only it doesn't smell as bad. The rest of the coming week is supposed to be much better and I'm hoping it will also be up near the border where we will be working. Have a great Sunday.____Dave

75° as it is getting light outside. 92° was the high yesterday, warm enough to make a feller stop perspiring and begin to sweat! Made the run for my Rx's, didn't even walk over to the "good" side of the store, washed the car and mowed till I got it all done. Had dinner, a nap and washed some dishes, it cooled off outside to about 85 so we went for a walk. Went out in the shop and checked the big freezer and saw the processed pumpkin under some venison. Bingo! Realized it was time to make a couple of pies. They turned out okay but the crust around the rims was browner than how Miss Joy made them. I followed her recipe, .
Got my coffee down, time to wake the mini-dachshund for his early morning walk. Bird feeder needs refilling, those Cardinals love the Black oil sunflower seeds. This should be followed by breakfast and a shower before heading out to church in a couple of hours.

Greetings FCD folks. It's currently 71 degrees here on the creek with a predicted high of 84. Right now its very overcast. Weve had a few passing showers since yesterday afternoon, but very little accumulation. The bird feeders look like the bread isle at the grocery after a snow storm warning has been announced.
We'll be heading to church in a while, but first I've got to get some of this wake-up juice into my system. I didn't sleep too well last night so I need it.
Progress on the garage project has been at a standstill since Tuesday. The builders are working elsewhere for now waiting for delivery of the roofing and siding metal. Hopefully that will be delivered tomorrow and we will start to see some progress once again. I'll post a pic below of it as it looks now.

Looking good, Philco! The only bad thing I see is your new garage is obscuring the wonderful view that was in previous pictures. I know y'all will enjoy the new building.

Morning folks, 77 the low may top out around 90 will feel like 105 sez Henry the weekend guesser. Heavy fog this morning after a nice little shower yestiddy afternoon. I won't be on hose pipe duty this morning
Wampus was here ate and is laying on the she shed steps.
It was hard to find a breath of air this morning but I got the suet and woodpecker cake out and the hummers juice distributed.

Weatherman blew it last night, first storm watch, then severe storm warning with 70 mph winds. Nada, no rain no wind. Today is an Extreme Heat Warning, hopefully that is wrong too. Bird feeders are lookin mighty empty and will put out extra water for them.
Need to pick some groceries before a couple of sale items end. Probably a nap this afternoon cuz this is another full 5 day work week.

Good morning. 100% humidity again today. I can't see out any of my windows because of the condensation from the humidity. I checked the weather up where we will be working up near the border, and it still 100% humidity and even hotter. I'll be glad when this job is over. I gotta get packing. Another day in the sauna. Yesterday heat index hit 109. The hottest summer on record here was 1936, many days of actual temperatures of 100+ No thank you, I remember my mother talking about sleeping on the floor in front of screen door. I lived in that same old house in the late 70’s, still no AC but at least had electricity & fans.
Work today at the collectibles shop. Need to get something figured out to take for lunch.

Morning folks, 72 heading to the mid 90's with the heat index in the mid 100's. We had about 3 tenths of a inch of rain about bedtime, there wete some pretty bad thunder bumpers and heavy rain that came down out of KY to our west.
Wampus was in attendance this morning ate like a hog the went to his throne to preen and make himself the handsome dude he is.
To hot to trot around here so keeping the AC company is the plan. Hope yawl have a good'un and be careful out there.

Today is nothing but staying in the nice, friendly, soothing cold air. Those working out in this stuff have my sympathy. It's just yuck.
Was looking at some really interesting old country music history in Springfield, Missouri last night. VERY cool to know that Porter Wagoner, Chet Atkins, some of the Carter Family (Mother Maybelle and her daughters, June, Anita and Helen), Brenda Lee and Red Foley all lived there during their time on the Ozarks Jubilee tv show.

Draggin' around this morning, late to the FCD.
Sunday went well, hot, 96 degrees sometime before noon. An unusual cloud system covered us up after church let out and the temperature dropped back into the high 80s for the afternoon. No rain on any of the radar sites, an unusual cooling was enjoyed.
Normal morning here at Starvation Plantation, coffee was good, got my morning chores done.
School teachers are due back to work this week in most of the area's school districts. The week the teachers came back were always a nightmare for our maintenance crew, so many insignificant items that folks just had to have done before the children returned in a week or so. The week the students were back in class was the best week, the educators were all trying to keep order and didn't have time to nit pick. That was my 35 years of school district maintenance remembering what I had retired from 17 years ago. Our school teacher daughter is going to be teaching in a newly constructed building that had not been completed by the contractor as of last week. Needless to say, she's a bit upset about not being able to prepare her classroom for the new session prior to work staring tomorrow. All I could say was, "It's not your fault."
Hope to get the Seminole pumpkin seed in the ground this week. We have been planting them for years and sharing them with friends, that was something Miss Joy always enjoyed. Trying to keep the tradition going.

Good morning. Another muggy day is in store for us. yesterday we worked on the shade side of the church and there was a light breeze so it wasn't too bad. I'm hoping for at least the same today. I slept hard and long last night. It's getting more obvious as time goes on that this job is going to run longer than the two weeks we were hoping for up here away from home. Our wives are disliking this even more than we are, and my dog really hates me being gone. Jane said that Gypsy is laying on the living room window seat watching out the window like she did when he buddy Molly died. Last weekend she tagged along with me pretty much everywhere I went around the house and was already moping when she saw me packing. We are heading off to meet Pastor Cal for breakfast so I gotta run. Have a good Tuesday and try to stay cool.____Dave

73° this morning, got a dr. appointment at 8:20 this morning, a regular 6 month check up so I'll not be able to go to men's prayer meeting this morning.
Yesterday we got to 96°, it was bright and sunny till late afternoon. Clouded up and we had several hard showers between 8 and 9 last night. Haven't checked the gauge this morning.
Yesterday I mowed in the woods for a couple of hours, lots of Sweet Gum saplings coming up in the planted pines since we didn't get to do a controlled earlier this year. The small piles of pines downed by Hurricane Michael back in 2018 have deteriorated to the point that we can mow through them with the bush hog. Sometimes they make a little racket when there's a bit of heart wood in the old logs. Driving down to mow in the pines, I noticed something in what Miss Joy called the "Island Pond", a small pond we had dug about 35 years ago. There was a dead yearling deer floating in the pond just out of the reach of the buzzards that were trying to figure out what to do. Later in the afternoon, the caress had moved/floated over to the island, reckon it will be food for the turtles and catfish.
Coffee was good this morning, I hear the mini-dachshund wanting to go out, unusual for him to wake up this early.
Y'all be careful in the heat!

The boss and I hit the ground running again this morning, watered the plants fed the critters, l put down some roundup and we are now having a cuppa joe and recuperating

In case any of you ever wondered why "Woodwalker" is such a happy and positive fella, this pic should explain it. Living in a low tax state with beautiful scenery and friendly, decent citizens will do that to you.

I'm off to a slow start this morning after a bit of a rough night. We had thunderboomers roll through last night and my dog does not like them even a little bit. He gets right against me and wants me to pet and comfort him constantly. That behavior and a good nights sleep (for me) are not compatible. According to the radar, the storm had come and gone and was at least 50 miles past us before he settled down and let me get some rest. At least I didn't have to get up and rush off to work somewhere early this morning.
I may have to go file a missing persons report soon. My garage contractor has not been here in a week now. I know he's got other jobs going, but I'm anxious to get my long awaited garage completed and restore my yard to something other than a construction site. I'm trying to be patient.

Howdy diner. Sitting outside reading and watching my boys play. Enjoying the weather before it turns sour on me and tries to smother the life and joy out of all existence with a deleterious wet blanket of humidity and despair again. In the shade of my giant silver maple in the breeze its perfect. My boys are swinging on a rope swing from its branches. As long as that doesn't devolve into full contact blood-sport and drown out the birds singing, I'm in for a pleasant morning.

Stark contrast to the folks on the other side of the lake. My heart goes out to the folks there. The tornado touched down in a neighborhood I know well. With my side business I'm uniquely suited to help some folks out, but access to Menasha is closed. I've got LP tanks stacked like cord wood, food for an army, and generator power enough to charge that army's collective cell phone array. Mostly now though, first responders and emergency crews just need room to work.

I'm so thankful for the waters of lake winnebago that served as a weather buffer as they so often do, and sapped the tornado of its strength, dissipating it before it could wreck more havoc. We went to the basement when the sirens went off. I started taking home inventory photos when I saw the initial reports. A bit tense for a while there, but we're completely safe, hardly any storm at all.

As an odd silver lining I have photos of about 90% of my knife accumulation. Might get around to sharing those some day. It's a good day to be thankful folks, have a pleasant day

Glad there was no storm damage to anyone here. We had some lightning, not close. But didn't hear even a single thunder rumble.
